Women's Soccer Hits the Road to Face Monmouth on Saturday

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's soccer team is looking to bounce back after dropping a mid-week MAAC game to the Manhattan Jaspers on Tuesday, March 23. The Bobcats were edged by the Jaspers, 2-1, in overtime. Quinnipiac will now look to Monmouth, the defending MAAC Champions, as the team travels to West Long Branch, N.J. This will be the second road game of the season for the Bobcats.

Last Time Out
The Bobcats hosted the Manhattan Jaspers on Tuesday, March 23. The Jaspers left with the 2-1 overtime win. Manhattan's Alexa Chapman scored in the second minute of the game to give the road team a 1-0 lead. First-year Rebecca Cooke scored in the opening minutes of the second half to tie the game. Neither team could convert another goal, so the game went into extra time. Manhattan's Lindsey Healy scored to give the Jaspers the walk-off win.
Scouting Monmouth
The Hawks currently sit a 2-0-1 and are ranked second in the MAAC behind the undefeated Jaspers. Monmouth opened the season with 3-0 win over Iona and then tied Fairfield, 2-2. The Hawks most recently played Canisius and won 3-0. Seven different Hawks have recorded points this season - Maddison Perna leads the team with two goals (four points). In the net, Maddie Ogden and Rebecca Winslow have split time. The Monmouth back line has allowed just two goals against with two shutouts this season. Both of the Hawks' wins have come in 3-0 wins.

The Bobcats and Hawks have met 29 times since the year 2000. Monmouth holds the series record with 21 wins, 6 losses and two ties. The last time the Bobcats defeated the Hawks was on Oct. 10, 2015 in a 3-2 overtime win. In 2019, Quinnipiac hosted Monmouth in the regular season and lost 1-0.

First-year forward Rebecca Cooke has tallied a goal or an assist in every game she has played (three straight). She leads the team with eight points on three goals and two assists. In the MAAC, the rookie is ranked first in shots (15 total, 5.00 avg/g), second in goals with three and third in assists with two. She is also second in the MAAC in total points (8) just behind Rider's Makenzie Rodrigues (9).
