Oriac Vila Rotxes Scores in Win

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer earned its second straight win to begin the spring 2021 season, defeating Niagara 1-0 in MAAC play at the Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium in Hamden.

Oriac Vila Rotxes scored the lone goal of the game in the 68^th minute – his fifth career goal.

"Good performance from the team, certainly an improved performance from our first game of the season at Fairfield. We had good possession, created some pretty good chances – but Niagara poses a difficult challenge. We had to work hard, and as the game grew we became more patient… Happy with our performance and our attitude today, and it feels good to pick up another league win."

(68' – Quinnipiac 1, Niagara 0): Oriac Vila played the ball to Brage Aasen outside the box, and the sophomore touched it back to Vila – who blasted a shot into the left side of the net for his first goal of the year.

NOTES

Oriac Vila Rotxes's goal is his fifth career score. He scored four times during his first year with the Bobcats in 2019.
Brage Aasen has now assisted on both Quinnipiac goals this year. He has eight assists for his career at Quinnipiac – recording six helpers in 2019.
Quinnipiac outshot Niagara 12-8. The Bobcats recorded five shots on goal.
QU earned six corner chances in total.
Goalkeeper Jared Mazzola made three saves in the shutout. He now has nine career clean sheets, earning five shutouts in 2018 and three in 2019.
The Bobcats defense allowed just three shots on net in front of Mazzola.
