Desiree Kleberg Scores in Double Overtime to Give Quinnipiac the Win
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team used a late 3-0 run in regulation and a Desiree Kleberg goal in double overtime to take down Iona, 15-14, on Friday afternoon in Hamden.
The Bobcats tied the game with just under three minutes remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. Kleberg scored with 24 seconds remaining in the first half of double overtime to give Quinnipiac the victory.
Junior midfielder Gabby Beckett led the Bobcats, matching her career high with five points on the afternoon, finding the back of the net twice and dishing out three assists. Sophomore midfielder Sophia Iaccino grabbed a career-high eight draw controls in the win.

GAME SUMMARY
- The first five goals of the game were scored by the Bobcats. Four Bobcats found the back of the net during the run, including two by Maddie Noel.
- Iona scored four of the next five goals to cut the Bobcats lead to 6-4.
- Desiree Kleberg scored with just under a minute remaining in the first half to give Quinnipiac at 7-4 lead heading into halftime.
- Coming out of halftime, Iona went on an extended 5-0 run that lasted just under 12 minutes. That run gave the Gaels a 9-7 lead. Amy Nicoloff scored for the Bobcats to end the run, cutting the Iona lead to 9-8.
- The Gaels went on a 3-0 run after the Nicoloff goal to take a 12-8 lead with 14:25 remaining in the game.
- Quinnipiac went on a 3-0 run of its own capped off by a Kalie Moore goal to cut the Gaels lead to 12-11, forcing an Iona timeout.
- The next two goals were scored by Iona, giving them a 14-11 lead.
- Kleberg, Gabby Beckett and Megan Szawlowski all scored for the Bobcats in the final 5:30 of regulation to send the game to overtime, tied at 14.
