HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team welcomes Binghamton for a Saturday matchup with Binghamton. The matchup between the Bearcats and the Bobcats is scheduled for 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse earned its second win of the 2020 season after downing the Hartford Hawks, 16-9. The Bobcats came out firing in the first half and scored four goals in less than four minutes to take a 4-0 lead. The Hawks cut the Bobcats' lead to four goals early in the second half, but the home team would hold the lead and earn the decisive 16-9 win. Senior attacker Megan Szawlowski scored three times and tallied an assist in the win. First-year Desiree Kleberg notched four assists. In the net for the Bobcats, senior Allie Kelsey recorded six saves with five goals against in her second win of the season. Senior attacker Megan Szawlowski gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. First-year Liza Bailey scored her first-career goal three minutes into the first half to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. Junior Shannon Savage scored the Bobcats' third goal and her first of the season five minutes into the first half. First-year midfielder Emily Feeney led Quinnipiac with four ground balls. First-year Sophia Iaccino tallied two goals and one assist for three points in win. Szawlowski went 1-1 on free position shots in the win. The senior attacker has recorded five multi-point games in a row this season. She leads the team with 14 goals and two assists this year. Victoria Bobinski led the team with four caused turnovers.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton currently has a 1-5 record through their first six games of the season. The Bearcats picked up their only win of the season against Lafayette by a score of 9-7. In the last two games, Binghamton took on two MAAC opponents. They fell to Marist, 17-7 and most recently fell to Niagara, 12-10. Junior attacker Paige Volkmann leads the Bearcats in goals with 13 and points with 17. As a team, Binghamton is being outscored 81-45 by its opponents.
DESIREE'S DIMES
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg dished out four assists in the win against Hartford. The Huntington Station, N.Y. native five assists on the season, which leads the team.
SWAZ SCORES
Senior attacker Megan Szawlowski has scored multiple goals in every game so far this season, including a five goal game against LIU. She leads the team with 14 goals so far this season.
KELSEY'S CAREER HIGH
Senior goalkeeper Allie Kelsey stopped a career-high 15 shots in the Bobcats game at Wagner on Saturday. She has made 43 saves in the Bobcats first five games this season.
BACK-TO-BACK MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEKS
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career, as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 17. Kleberg recorded four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in the Bobcats games against Bryant and Wagner. First-year midfielder Sophia Iaccino then earned the award the following week, which was announced by the league office on Monday, February 24. Iaccino scored a hat trick in less than 14 minutes of game time against LIU. The Farmingdale, N.Y. native also picked up three ground balls and recorded one draw control in the Bobcat victory.
MIDFIELD MACHINES
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg recorded a hat trick in her first career game. Reigning MAAC All-Rookie Team selection Gabby Beckett also recorded a hat trick against Bryant. The sophomore midfielder added an assist to finish the season opener with four points. Senior midfielder Brianna Fitzgerald scored a goal, dished out an assist, picked up three ground balls and recorded two draw controls against Bryant.
THE 2020 CAMPAIGN
The 16-game regular season runs from February 12 to April 18, and will feature two opponents that reached the 2019 NCAA Tournament in Wagner and Fairfield. In addition, seven of Quinnipiac's opponents won at least nine games each a year ago. The program's eight regular season home competitions feature non-conference matchups with Connecticut, Hartford, Binghamton, and Hofstra (Senior Day), while the team travels to Bryant, LIU, Old Dominion, and reigning Northeast Conference champion Wagner.
LOTS OF PRODUCTION RETURNING
Nine of the top 11 point producers from a year ago return to the roster for the 2020 season. Senior attack Megan Szawlowski recorded 50 points a season ago, which ranked second on the team. She found the back of the net 33 times, while adding 17 assists. Two 2019 MAAC All-Rookie Team selections return in 2020 for the Bobcats. in sophomore midfielder Maddie Deegan and sophomore midfielder Gabby Beckett. Deegan tallied 21 points last season, scoring 17 goals and dishing out four assists. Beckett recorded 17 points from 10 goals and seven assists last season.

SEASONED SENIOR CLASS
Every player that is in the 2020 senior class appeared in at least six games in 2019. The eight seniors combined for 93 points last season. Goalkeeper Allie Kelsey saw action in 11 games last season, making eight starts, including a game at Marist where she made 12 saves. Defender Haley Everding returns for her senior season after starting every game in her career so far.
