Bender Records Second Straight Three-Hit Game to Lead Offensive Attack
Quinnipiac's win was its first of the 2020 season.
Blake DeCarr (Foxboro, Massachusetts) earned his first win of the season as he struck out five batters in 5 1/3 innings. DeCarr scattered two runs on five hits in his outing and let the Bobcats' offense take off.
Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) went 3 for 4 with a double, walk and two RBIs to lead the Bobcats with his second straight three-hit game while Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) went 2 for 3 with a double and a team-high three RBIs.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Vulgamore drove in two runs in the second inning before Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) had an RBI single and Braydon Seaburg (Stratford, Connecticut) had his first two RBIs with an RBI single.
The Bobcats added four runs over the final two innings to cap off the victory.

FIRST INNING
- Marrero led off the game with a double to right field and moved up to third on a fly out before coming home to score on an RBI groundout from Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts)
- The Bobcats plated a pair of runs in the inning as Gianni Arici (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) led off the inning with a single to right field and moved up to third on a Michael Kohn (Rockville, Maryland) double.
- After a Marrero walk, Vulgamore singled to centerfield to score Kohn and Arici to take a 3-0 lead.
- Bender led off the inning with a and quickly moved up to second on a wild pitch.
- Lutz followed with a single to left field to score Bender and make it 4-1.
- After an Arici hit by pitch and Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) sacrifice bunt to put both runners in scoring position, Seaburg singled to left field to score both Lutz and Arici and take a 6-1 lead.
- The Bobcats held a 6-2 lead before tacking on three more runs in the top of the eighth inning
- Seaburg walked with one out in the inning and moved up to second as Marrero reached on an error.
- Vulgamore doubled down the left field line to score Seaburg and put runners in scoring position before Bender drilled a two-run single to right field to score Vulgamore and Marrero.
- Maves walked with one out in the inning and came all the way around to score on a throwing error by the first baseman as Seaburg reached on a throwing error by the second baseman.
- Vulgamore had two hits, including a double, for a second straight game and drove in a season-high three RBIs
- Bender recorded three hits for a second straight game and he reached base four times with a walk.
- He also drove in two RBIs to take over the team-lead with six so far in 2020.
- Marrero doubled for his first extra-base hit and scored two runs for a second straight game.

- David Longstreeth (Hatfield, Massachusetts) made his first appearance since April 3, 2019, as he pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts, his most strikeouts in an appearance in his career.
- Saturday's game was postponed to Sunday and the Bobcats and Keydets will now play a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
- Arthur Correira (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) will get the start in game one of the doubleheader followed by Brandyn Garcia (Granby, Connecticut) will start in game two.
