HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team heads to Storrs to take on UConn in a Friday afternoon matchup. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team defeated the LIU Sharks on Sunday afternoon, 15-13. The Bobcats used second half runs of 4-0 and 2-0 to close out the back and forth game. There were five ties, but the Bobcats never found themselves down a goal during the game. Senior attacker Megan Szawlowski found the back of the net five times in the win, while first-year midfielder Sophia Iaccino scored a hat trick within the first 14 minutes of the game. Two Bobcats had put up two assists as junior attacker Shannon Savage and senior Brianna Fitzgerald each dished out two assists. Senior defender Victoria Bobinski caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls in the victory. Senior goalkeeper Allie Kelsey made nine saves in the Bobcat win.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The Huskies have a record of 3-1 so far in the early stages of the season. Most recently they defeated New Hampshire by a score of 21-8. Sophomore attacker Lia LaPrise leads the team in points with 22, scoring 10 goals and adding 12 assists. Junior midfielder Sydney Watson leads the team in goals with 18, which is good enough for fifth most in the nation. Watson also has 29 draw controls so far. Watson and LaPrise were named American Conference Players of the Week for their performances last week. The Huskies are tied for tenth in the nation in scoring with 17.00 goals per game.
SWAZ SCORES
Senior attacker Megan Szawlowski has scored multiple goals in every game so far this season, including a five goal game last Sunday against LIU. She leads the team with nine goals so far this season.
KELSEY'S CAREER HIGH
Senior goalkeeper Allie Kelsey stopped a career-high 15 shots in the Bobcats game at Wagner on Saturday. She has made 26 saves in the Bobcats first two games this season.
BACK-TO-BACK MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEKS
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career, as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 17. Kleberg recorded four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in the Bobcats games against Bryant and Wagner. First-year midfielder Sophia Iaccino then earned the award the following week, which was announced by the league office on Monday, February 24. Iaccino scored a hat trick in less than 14 minutes of game time against LIU. The Farmingdale, N.Y. native also picked up three ground balls and recorded one draw control in the Bobcat victory.
MIDFIELD MACHINES
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg recorded a hat trick in her first career game. Reigning MAAC All-Rookie Team selection Gabby Beckett also recorded a hat trick against Bryant. The sophomore midfielder added an assist to finish the season opener with four points. Senior midfielder Brianna Fitzgerald scored a goal, dished out an assist, picked up three ground balls and recorded two draw controls against Bryant.
THE 2020 CAMPAIGN
The 16-game regular season runs from February 12 to April 18, and will feature two opponents that reached the 2019 NCAA Tournament in Wagner and Fairfield. In addition, seven of Quinnipiac's opponents won at least nine games each a year ago. The program's eight regular season home competitions feature non-conference matchups with Connecticut, Hartford, Binghamton, and Hofstra (Senior Day), while the team travels to Bryant, LIU, Old Dominion, and reigning Northeast Conference champion Wagner.
LOTS OF PRODUCTION RETURNING
Nine of the top 11 point producers from a year ago return to the roster for the 2020 season. Senior attack Megan Szawlowski recorded 50 points a season ago, which ranked second on the team. She found the back of the net 33 times, while adding 17 assists. Two 2019 MAAC All-Rookie Team selections return in 2020 for the Bobcats. in sophomore midfielder Maddie Deegan and sophomore midfielder Gabby Beckett. Deegan tallied 21 points last season, scoring 17 goals and dishing out four assists. Beckett recorded 17 points from 10 goals and seven assists last season.

The 2020 Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team consists of 11 first years, six sophomores, six juniors and eight seniors.
SEASONED SENIOR CLASS
Every player that is in the 2020 senior class appeared in at least six games in 2019. The eight seniors combined for 93 points last season. Goalkeeper Allie Kelsey saw action in 11 games last season, making eight starts, including a game at Marist where she made 12 saves. Defender Haley Everding returns for her senior season after starting every game in her career so far.
MEET THE NEWCOMERS

In addition to those newcomers, Hallie Campbell, native of Glastonbury, Conn. joins the first year class. Lauren Hayes also joins the program as a transfer from Virginia Tech.
