BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team travels to Long Island to take on the LIU Sharks on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. This will be the third straight Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent that the Bobcats have taken on.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats traveled to Staten Island to take on the defending NEC champions, Wagner in a Saturday afternoon showdown. The Seahawks took the game 19-10. Senior goalkeeper Allie Kelsey recorded a career-high 15 saves in the loss. Three Bobcats recorded multi-goal games as Senior attack Megan Szawlowski, junior midfielder Cameron Parry and first-year midfielder Amy Nicoloff all scored two goals Nicoloff scored her first career goals in the game. First-year defender Melissa Murphy picked up a team-high four ground balls.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
LIU has played three games so far this season for a record of 1-2. They have taken on two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foes so far, as they defeated Manhattan 7-5 and losing to Monmouth 20-13. They also lost to Rutgers in their first game of the season, 15-9. Sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Duchnowski received the NEC Defensive Player of the Week award for her play against Manhattan. She gave up five goals in the game, while making 12 saves. Junior midfielder Amanda Masullo was also named an NEC Prime Performer for her game against Manhattan as she scored four goals in the win. Masullo led the Sharks in goals (52), assists (21), and points (73) last season.
KELSEY'S CAREER HIGH
Senior goalkeeper Allie Kelsey stopped a career-high 15 shots in the Bobcats game at Wagner on Saturday. She has made 26 saves in the Bobcats first two games this season.
MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career, as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 17. Kleberg recorded four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in the Bobcats games against Bryant and Wagner.
MIDFIELD MACHINES
First-year midfielder Desiree Kleberg recorded a hat trick in her first career game. Reigning MAAC All-Rookie Team selection Gabby Beckett also recorded a hat trick against Bryant. The sophomore midfielder added an assist to finish the season opener with four points. Senior midfielder Brianna Fitzgerald scored a goal, dished out an assist, picked up three ground balls and recorded two draw controls against Bryant.
THE 2020 CAMPAIGN
The 16-game regular season runs from February 12 to April 18, and will feature two opponents that reached the 2019 NCAA Tournament in Wagner and Fairfield. In addition, seven of Quinnipiac's opponents won at least nine games each a year ago. The program's eight regular season home competitions feature non-conference matchups with Connecticut, Hartford, Binghamton, and Hofstra (Senior Day), while the team travels to Bryant, LIU, Old Dominion, and reigning Northeast Conference champion Wagner.
LOTS OF PRODUCTION RETURNING
Nine of the top 11 point producers from a year ago return to the roster for the 2020 season. Senior attack Megan Szawlowski recorded 50 points a season ago, which ranked second on the team. She found the back of the net 33 times, while adding 17 assists. Two 2019 MAAC All-Rookie Team selections return in 2020 for the Bobcats. in sophomore midfielder Maddie Deegan and sophomore midfielder Gabby Beckett. Deegan tallied 21 points last season, scoring 17 goals and dishing out four assists. Beckett recorded 17 points from 10 goals and seven assists last season.

The 2020 Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team consists of 11 first years, six sophomores, six juniors and eight seniors.
SEASONED SENIOR CLASS
Every player that is in the 2020 senior class appeared in at least six games in 2019. The eight seniors combined for 93 points last season. Goalkeeper Allie Kelsey saw action in 11 games last season, making eight starts, including a game at Marist where she made 12 saves. Defender Haley Everding returns for her senior season after starting every game in her career so far.
MEET THE NEWCOMERS

In addition to those newcomers, Hallie Campbell, native of Glastonbury, Conn. joins the first year class. Lauren Hayes also joins the program as a transfer from Virginia Tech. The Amherst, N.H. native comes to Quinnipiac after spending one collegiate season as a member of the Hokies.
