Petruzzelli Earns Second Straight ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week Honor

Bobcats Backstop Becomes First Quinnipiac Goalie to Win Back-to-Back Honors in Three Seasons
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey goaltender Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) has been recognized as the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week for a second consecutive week, as announced by the league office on Monday, February 10.
Petruzzelli is the first Bobcat to win back-to-back weekly awards from ECAC Hockey since former Quinnipiac goaltender Andrew Shortridge won back-to-back rookie of the week awards at the end of the 2016-17 season. Petruzzelli is the first Quinnipiac goaltender to win back-to-back goaltender of the week honors since Michael Garteig '16 did so the first two weeks of the 2013-14 season.
This week marks Petruzzelli's third goaltender of the week honors of the season and of his career, as he was previously honored last week on Feb. 3 and earlier this season on Nov. 19.
Petruzzelli was second in ECAC Hockey with a 1.92 GAA and .929 save percentage on the week as he led the Bobcats to a 1-0-1 week with a win at Yale and tie at Brown. His 52 saves also ranked second amongst the league's goaltenders.
He made 25 saves at Yale in a 3-2 overtime victory, including 19 through the first two periods on 20 shots as he kept the Bobcats in the game and build an early third period lead. Petruzzelli was dominant late at Brown on Saturday, making 25 of his 27 saves from the second period through the end of overtime.
Petruzzelli lowered his GAA to 2.12 on the season, ranked third in ECAC Hockey and also upped his save total to 634, also third in the league. He also raised his save percentage to .918, tied for sixth among the league's goaltenders.
Over the last four games in which Petruzzelli has won back-to-back ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors, he is second in ECAC Hockey with a .954 save percentage and 1.22 GAA while he is tied for the league-lead with three wins.
Quinnipiac men's ice hockey returns to the ice this weekend as the Bobcats host No. 5 Clarkson Friday night in a battle of top-three ECAC Hockey teams at 7 p.m. before St. Lawrence comes to Hamden to close out the weekend Saturday night at 7 p.m.
