Women's Basketball Selected Second in Preseason Poll
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's basketball senior guard Shaquana Edwards and sophomore forward Mikala Morris have both been named to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team, as announced by the MAAC office on Thursday during the 2020-21 Basketball Preseason Awards Show on ESPN3.
The Bobcats have been selected for the second spot in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 108 total votes. Quinnipiac and Fairfield are tied for the second spot, while Manhattan takes top billing by one point, with 109 votes.

Edwards averaged 12.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 26 games last season. The Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection scored at least ten points in 19 of her 26 appearances in 2019-20. She scored a career-high 22 points vs. Rhode Island on December 12, 2019, shooting 9-19 from the field in the effort. The Hartford native scored in double figures in ten consecutive games from November 30 to January 25.
Morris, a member of the 2019-20 MAAC All-Rookie Team, appeared in 21 games last season, making 15 starts. She averaged 9.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while tallying 204 points in her rookie campaign. The Ohio native notched a career high of 18 points against Canisus (01/18) and recorded a career-high 17 rebounds against Manhattan (01/11).
The Bobcats finished with a 15-14 (12-8 MAAC) mark in 2019-20 – the program's ninth straight winning season under Head Coach Tricia Fabbri. Quinnipiac finished the regular season tied for the third-most MAAC wins (12). The 2020 MAAC Tournament was suspended due to the COVID-19 virus before Quinnipiac participated in postseason play.
The MAAC released its 2020-21 women's basketball schedule on Sept. 22, 2020. Quinnipiac begins league play at the People's United Center in Hamden on Wednesday, Dec. 9 vs. Monmouth. The Bobcats then hit the road for three straight games (Dec. 16 at Niagara, Dec. 19 at Canisius, Dec. 30 at Iona) to close out the month of December.
The Bobcats' full schedule follows the recently announced MAAC basketball schedule model, which is adjusted to accommodate changes and potential disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020-21 season calls for a 20-game slate, with every school playing each opponent both home and away. The MAAC has also allowed four non-conference games in the first two weeks of the season, plus one additional game on the week of Dec. 22.
All scheduled contests are tentative and subject to change due to ongoing restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
