Women's Soccer hosts River Hawks in non-conference play
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's soccer team will host the UMass Lowell River Hawks in non-conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. The Bobcats are coming off 2-0 win against the Hartford Hawks and look to earn the team's fifth win of the season.

Last Time Out:
Quinnipiac hosted Hartford on Sunday, Sept. 8 and defeated the Hawks 2-0. Freshman Meaghan Phillips tallied her third shutout of the season, sophomore Gretchen Kron scored her second game-winning goal of the season and senior Kylie Lance netted her first goal of the season. The Bobcats allowed just six shots in the shutout and recorded a season-high 16.
Scouting the River Hawks:
UMass Lowell travels to Hamden with a 0-4-1 record so far this season. The River Hawks have dropped games against Niagara, Boston College, Providence and Brown, while tying UMass.
History vs UMass Lowell:
Last season, Quinnipiac came away with a 4-3 win against UMass Lowell on Sept. 6, 2018. The Bobcats hold a 2-1 record against the River Hawks with all of the matches played happening in the last four seasons.
Phillips in the Net:
Freshman Meaghan Phillips tallied her third shutout of the season through five games. In 451 minutes played, Phillips has allowed just four goals with 18 saves made. Her 0.80 goals against average is tied for the second-best in the conference. The Ontario native's three shutouts are tied for first in the MAAC.
Defensive Unit:
In addition to Phillip's strong play between the posts, her defensive line has also been solid through the first five games. As a team, Quinnipiac has only allowed four goals against, which is tied for second in the MAAC. The Bobcats back line has also kept Phillip's save percentage down at 3.60 saves per game, which is the second lowest in the conference.
MAAC Play on the Horizon:
The Bobcats will play two more non-conference games, one against UMass Lowell and another against Dartmouth, before beginning conference play. Quinnipiac will face Canisius in the opening MAAC game on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Buffalo, N.Y.
New Season, New Team:
Quinnipiac welcomes 11 newcomers to the squad, with five players coming from Ontario, four coming from New Jersey, Connecticut and Illinois, one from England and one from the Netherlands. Seventeen players will return from the 2018 roster, including Selena Salas, who received All-MAAC honors at the end of the season.
