All-Time vs. Campbell
The Bobcats and Fighting Camels last met in a three-game series in 2017 with Campbell winning the series, 2-1. MAAC Champions
Quinnipiac won its first-ever MAAC Championship on Sunday with a 6-5 victory in 13 innings against the Fairfield Stags. The Bobcats' conference championship was its second all-time and first since the 2005 season when head coach John Delaney was a freshman and pitching coach Pat Egan was a sophomore. The Bobcats dominated the MAAC Tournament, sweeping the weekend to earn the championship.
These Cats are Hot
The Bobcats have won seven straight games heading into the NCAA Regional after closing out the regular season with four victories before winning three straight en route to the MAAC Championship. Quinnipiac's seven-game winning streak is its longest since the Bobcats won nine straight games from April 6-20, 2014.
Regular Season Champs
Quinnipiac also clinched a share of its first regular season championship since joining the MAAC as they finished with a 17-7 record for its most conference wins earned since 2014. The Bobcats had not won a regular season championship since 2007 and just its third since joining the Division I ranks.
M-V-P, M-V-P
Brian Moskey earned MAAC Tournament MVP honors after a blistering performance in which he wetn 7 for 12 with two doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs, five runs scored, and drew four walks. Moskey reached base six times in the MAAC Championship game, including a first-pitch, leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Against Ranked Opponents
The Bobcats finished the regular season 1-1 against nationally-ranked opponents after an early 8-6 victory over then-No. 20 Wake Forest back in February in the second weekend. Tyler Poulin struck out 12 Demon Deacons in the victory as the Bobcats earned their first win against a nationally ranked opponent since beating Virginia on March 8, 2004. Poulin's 12-strikeout performance was also the most by a Bobcat pitcher since Derek Lammachia had 13 against Fordham on March 2, 2012.
All-Tournament Team
In addition to Moskey's MVP honors, Colin Donnelly, Dylan Lutz, Tyler Poulin and Liam Scafariello were all named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team after impressive performances in the weekend. The Bobcats had five players recognized for the first time with their first MAAC Championships.
Long Time Coming
Quinnipiac's 13-inning MAAC Championship victory was the longest MAAC Championship game in league history and second-longest MAAC Tournament game overall. The Bobcats battled with the Stags, trading leads before the Bobcats won it in the bottom of the 13th inning on a wild pitch.
All-New England Picks
The Bobcats recently had six players recognized with All-New England honors from the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association. Evan Vulgamore was recognized for a second straight season, earning second team honors at third base along with Andre Marrero in the outfield. Catcher Colton Bender, Utility Ian Ostberg and pitchers Tyler Poulin and Andrew Workman were all named to the third team.
