Softball Drops Two Games to Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Quinnipiac softball team dropped two games on Friday, May 3 against the Canisius Golden Griffins. The Griffs took game one, 4-2, and game two, 4-1.
Game 1 Scoring Plays
Third Inning - Senior Taylor Troyan got on base with a double to right center. Freshman Danielle Sorenson came in to pinch run for Troyan. Junior Meg Dyson hit a sacrifice bunt to allow Sorenson to advance to third base. Sophomore Kayla Jensen then hit an RBI-single through the right side to send Sorenson home to tie the game 1-1.
Sixth Inning - Senior Erin Larsen led off for the Bobcats with a single up the middle. Freshman Alexis Otero hit a double and was able to advance to third on a throwing error by Canisius; Larsen also scored on the play. The Bobcats would finish the bottom of sixth inning down 4-2 to the Golden Griffs.
Highlights
Sixth Inning - Dyson and Jensen reached off an error by the Griffs and a fielder's choice. After a passed ball by Canisius, Dyson advanced to third and Jensen advanced to second. Larsen loaded the bases after getting walked. Otero hit an RBI-single to send Dyson home. After the sixth inning, Canisius led the game, 3-1, and added one run in the seventh.
Highlights
The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow, May 3, as they take on Niagara in the final doubleheader of the regular season. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
