Softball Ends 2019 Campaign with Split at Niagara

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - The Quinnipiac softball team finished the 2019 campaign by splitting a road doubleheader with the Niagara Purple Eagles. Quinnipiac took the first game, 3-0, and Niagara came back to win the second game, 10-1, in five innings.
The Bobcats finished the season with an overall record of 17-33 and an 8-12 conference record. Quinnipiac and Manhattan finished the season tied for seventh place; the top six teams advance to the MAAC Championship Tournament.
Game 1 Scoring Plays
Fifth Inning - The Bobcats scored the only runs of the game from either team in the fifth inning. Junior Meg Dyson got the offense started with a single up the middle. Dyson moved to second as freshman Hannah Davis was hit by a pitch. Sophomore Kayla Jensen then hit her second homerun of the season to right center, giving the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
Highlights
Third Inning - Down 7-0, the Bobcats were looking to get the offense going in game two against the Purple Eagles. Nasir led off and singled to shortstop. Davis was walked, and Nasir moved to second base. Jensen came up to single to shortstop and load the bases. Senior Erin Larsen grounded out and drove in an RBI as Nasir scored from third base.
Niagara was able to score 10 runs through five innings to secure the win.

- Freshman Bridget Nasir was walked once and had one stolen base in the win.
