Vulgamore Scores Game-Winning Run in 13th on Wild Pitch, Moskey Named MVP
The Bobcats clinched a spot in their first NCAA Tournament since 2005 with the victory over the Stags and clinched its second conference championship at the Division I level. Quinnipiac also tied its program record for wins in a season with 29, set previously in 2007 and 2015.
Sunday's 13-inning championship game was the longest championship game in MAAC Tournament history and the second-longest MAAC Tournament game ever.
Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) was named the MAAC Tournament Most Valuable Player as he reached based six times Sunday with a home run, double, three walks and a hit by pitch. He also scored two runs and drove in two RBIs.
Moskey got the game started on a high note as he blasted a leadoff home run on the first pitch he saw from Fairfield starting pitcher Austin Pope.
Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) also homered for the Bobcats as he drilled a two-run blast while Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts) led the Bobcats with three hits and scored a run.
Colin Donnelly (Flemington, New Jersey) was stellar in relief of starting pitcher Arthur Correira (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) as he shut down the Stags in 7 2/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Donnelly scattered four hits and struck out five batters.

FIRST INNING
- Moskey drilled the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for a leadoff home run to jump the Bobcats out to a 1-0 lead.
- After Fairfield scored in the top of the inning, Quinnipiac scored two more in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.
- Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) singled to centerfield to lead off the inning and moved up to second on a Huscher single to second base.
- With two outs, Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) singled up the middle to score Bender to re-take the lead.
- Moskey followed with a double down the left field line that scored Huscher to take a two-run lead.
- Fairfield scored three runs in the top half of the inning but Quinnipiac answered once again to reclaim the lead.
- Moskey walked to lead off the inning with a seven-pitch at bat before he came home to score on Ostberg's two-run home run to take a 5-4 lead.
- Ostberg led off the inning by reaching first on a wild pitch after a strikeout and moved up to second on a walk to Vulgamore.
- Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) reached base with a bunt single to first base to load the bases with no outs in the inning.
- Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) reached on a fielder's choice as Ostberg was forced out at home to keep the bases loaded.
- In the next at bat for Huscher, Fairfield pitcher Peter Horn threw a wild pitch that allowed Vulgamore to score from third to clinch the championship.

- Quinnipiac won its first-ever MAAC Championship in its first appearance since joining the conference for the 2014
- The Bobcats conference championship is its first since 2005 when they were members of the Northeast Conference, and clinched their second Division I NCAA Tournament appearance
- Quinnipiac tied its program record for wins in a single-season with 29, set during 2007 and repeated in 2015
- Moskey was named the tournament MVP after finishing the tournament 7 for 12 with nine RBIs, five runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, three walks and a hit by pitch
- Donnelly, Lutz, Tyler Poulin (Randolph, New Jersey) and Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) were all named to the All-Tournament Team.
- Moskey reached base six times with a home run, double, three walks and a hit by pitch
- He now has 48 doubles, passing Tim Binkoski '07 for second in program history, and is one behind Vincent Guglietti '15 for the all-time record
- Moskey also tied Binkoski for fifth all-time with 136 runs scored and third in Division I program history
- Ostberg blasted his third home run of the season as he finished 2 for 6 with two RBIs and a run
- He now has 70 hits this season, making him just the sixth player in program history to record 70 hits in a season.
- Bender went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored to give him 60 hits this season, becoming the third Bobcat to reach 60 hits
- He has hit safely in seven straight games
- Huscher recorded three hits to give him hits in seven of his last eight games as he doubled and scored a run
- Donnelly recorded the longest relief appearance of the season for the Bobcats and the longest of his career with his 7 2/3 scoreless innings
- He struck out a season-high five batters and scattered four hits as he finished the MAAC Tournament with 10 2/3 scoreless innings pitched.
- Donnelly has allowed just one earned run in the past seven appearance to lower his ERA from 6.12 to 3.86
- Quinnipiac awaits the NCAA Baseball Selection Show Monday afternoon at 12 p.m. to find out their regional site and first round opponent.
- NCAA Regionals begin Friday, May 31 and run through Monday, June 3.
