
Rafferty Makes NHL Debut with Canucks Thursday Night

Bobcats Junior Becomes Eighth Alum to Dress for NHL Game Just Days After NCAA Career Ends
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey player Brogan Rafferty (Dundee, Illinois) made his NHL Debut Thursday night for the Vancouver Canucks as the Canucks took on the Nashville Predators, coming up just short of the win in a 3-2 loss.
Rafferty had a time-on-ice of 12:03 in his NHL debut, and recorded one shot on goal. He was also had a plus/minus of -1 in the loss and one of two defenseman on the Canucks to record a takeaway in Thursday night's game.
Rafferty is the third former Bobcat to make his NHL debut this season, joining Devon Toews '17 who made his debut on Dec. 23, 2018 for the New York Islanders and Connor Clifton '17 who made his debut for the Boston Bruins on Nov. 16, 2018. Overall, Peca is the fourth former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey player to play in the NHL this season as Matthew Peca '15 is on the Montreal Canadiens.
Rafferty is the eighth different Quinnipiac alumni to dress for an NHL game. In addition to Toews, Clifton and Peca, Rafferty joins Connor Jones '14 (New York Islanders), Bryce Van Brabant (Calgary Flames), Michel Garteig '16 (Vancouver Canucks) and Eric Hartzell '13 (Pittsburgh Penguins) in the NHL. Former Quinnipiac defenseman and associate head coach Reid Cashman '07 is also in the NHL, currently serving as an assistant coach of the Washington Capitals.
Vancouver has one game remaining in the 2018-19 regular season as Rafferty and the Canucks travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on the Blue Saturday afternoon. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.
