Softball Heads to Iona for MAAC Doubleheader

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team will hit the road to face Iona on Sunday, April 28 for a MAAC doubleheader. The first pitch is set for 12 p.m., in New Rochelle, N.Y. The Bobcats are coming off a three-game shutout win streak after beating Marist, 6-0, and sweeping Rider, 1-0 and 6-0. Quinnipiac has outscored opponents, 13-0, in the last three games.

Monmouth and Marist are tied with an 11-3 record at the top of the MAAC leaderboard. Siena and Iona follow in third and fourth place. The Bobcats swept Rider on Tuesday, April 21 in two complete game shutouts by senior Kendall Brundrett and freshman Lauren King. The Bobcats won game one, 1-0, off a walk-off single by Kayla Jensen. Quinnipiac then beat Rider 6-0 in the second game, led by King who threw her second complete-game shutout in a row.

The Gaels stand in fourth place behind Siena in the MAAC standings with an overall record of 15-22 and conference record of 9-5. Iona is coming off two losses against Fairfield on Saturday, April 27.
