Softball Blanks Rider Twice on Senior Day

The Bobcats honored the five seniors in a pregame ceremony. Kendall Brundrett, Erin Larsen, Rebecca Drake, Jen Fay and Taylor Troyan have led the team all season and throughout their four years on and off the field.
Game 1
Seventh Inning – Neither team had scored a run throughout the first game, until the bottom of the seventh inning. Freshman Hannah Davis got on base after getting walked. Freshman Lo Yarnall then stepped up to hit a single down the right line. Fay was able to load the bases with a single to right field. Sophomore Kayla Jensen then hit a walk-off single up the middle, and Davis scored the only run needed to win the game.
Highlights
- Brundrett pitched her third complete game shutout of the season and moves to 7-16 overall. She tallied three strikeouts in the win.
- Davis scored the game-winning run, and Jensen hit the game-winning single.
Second Inning - Fay hit her second single of the day to advance to first base. Davis hit a double to send Fay to third base. Sophomore Brighid Douglas doubled to center field, recording two RBIs, and sent Fay and Davis home. The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead going into the third inning.
Fourth Inning – Yarnall hit a single to left field, and Fay followed with a walk. Davis was also walked and loaded the bases. Douglas hit another two-RBI single up the middle to send Fay and Yarnall home. Senior Erin Larsen hit a long floater to the wall, but was tagged out at third base from center field. However, Douglas and Davis both scored, giving the Bobcats a 6-0 lead.
Quinnipiac would hold on to the lead and win the second game, 6-0. King pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits, which is a season-low, walking one and striking out two. The freshman pitcher has not allowed a run in 17.1 innings.
Highlights
- Fay went 1-2 with two runs scored.
- Douglas was perfect in game two, going 2-2 with one run and four RBIs.
- Davis scored two runs in the win and went 1-2.
Quinnipiac will travel to Iona on Sunday, April 28 for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
