Bobcats Score Three Runs in Sixth Inning to Earn Game Two Win
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning in the second game to pick up a 4-3 victory over the Siena Saints and split a doubleheader Friday.
Quinnipiac fell in the first game of the doubleheader, 3-2, and are tied with Canisius at 9-3 for second in MAAC play.
The Bobcats scored all three runs in the top of the sixth inning in the second game of Friday's doubleheader, and overcame the one-run deficit with two outs in the inning.
Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) got the rally started with a single and reach second with a stolen base. He later scored on a Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) single that put runners on the corners where Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) later scored on a wild pitch. Lutz finished off the rally as he scored on a throw after an infield single for Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts).
Marrero finished the day with four hits after going 2 for 4 in each game and scoring the game-tying run in game two. Huscher was 3 for 3 with a run in game two to pace the Bobcats while Lutz had two hits on the day, including a run and RBI in the sixth inning rally.
Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) reached base three times in the first game of the doubleheader as he doubled, walked twice and recorded an RBI.

SIXTH INNING
- After the Saints took a 3-0 lead in the first four innings, the Bobcats answered back with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning
- Ian Ostberg singled with one out in the inning and moved into scoring position on a single from Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts)
- Scafariello ripped a double down the left field line to score Ostberg easily and Cruz moved up to third.
- With two outs and runners in scoring position, Moskey reached on a fielder's choice that scored Cruz on a throwing error from the Siena second baseman but Scafariello ended the inning as he tried to score from second base.

THIRD INNING
- Huscher singled to right field to lead off the inning before Cruz laid down a sacrifice bunt to move him up to second
- After getting to third via a groundout, Huscher scored on a Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) single to left field
- The Bobcats overcame a one-run deficit to score three runs in the top of the sixth inning, all coming with two outs
- Marrero singled through the right side and stole second base to put himself in scoring position
- After Ostberg was hit by a pitch, Lutz pulled a single through the right side to score Marrero and put runners on the corners
- Ostberg then came home to score on a wild pitch and with Lutz on second, Huscher singled to the pitcher before Lutz managed to come home and score on the throw.
- Huscher recorded three hits in game two for his third three-hit game of the season
- He now has a career-high 32 hits this season, surpassing last year's 29 hits
- Marrero went 2 for 4 in each game to extend his hitting streak to four games and joins Ostberg as the two Bobcats with 40 hits this season.
- Marrero leads the team with a .314 batting average after his four-hit day
- Lutz also extended his hitting streak to four games as he singled in each game before recording an RBI and scoring a run to give him 13 each on the season
- He is one RBI away from tying his career-high from last season
- Maves recorded a hit for a fourth straight game and recorded his seventh RBI with his RBI single in the second game of the doubleheader
- Scafariello reached base three times as he doubled and walked twice in the first game of the doubleheader, and also recorded the 100th RBI of his career
- Tyler Poulin (Randolph, New Jersey) won his MAAC-leading fifth game as he struck out six batters in 5.2 innings Friday
- He now has 53 strikeouts in 55.2 innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 3.72
- Andrew Workman (Pound Ridge, New York) recorded his fifth save of the season, tied for third in the league
- His streak of innings pitched without allowing an earned run came to an end 23 innings after allowing his first earned run since March 13 with two outs in the inning
- Christian Nicolosi (Stony Point, New York) struck out two batters and scattered two hits over three scoreless innings in the first game of Friday's doubleheader, his sixth outing of three or more inning this season
- Quinnipiac and Siena wrap up their three-game series on Saturday afternoon with first pitch slated for 12 p.m. from Connors Park.
