Softball Announces Schedule Change, Hosts Marist Wednesday

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team has announced a schedule change and will host the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday, April 17 for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. The MAAC doubleheader was originally scheduled for Thursday, April 18 but was reschedule due to Thursday's weather forecast.
Quinnipiac holds a 13-26 overall record with a 4-6 MAAC record and is seventh in the conference standings. Marist stands in second in the MAAC with an 8-2 conference record and is 22-17 overall.

A Look at the Bobcats
Quinnipiac will look to bounce back against Marist after losing to the Siena Saints on Sunday, April 14, 4-2 and 7-1. The Bobcats were down, 4-0, in the first game and recorded two runs to come within two of the Saints, but Siena held on to close the first game. Quinnipiac went 2-4 through six total games last week, earning two non-conference wins against Sacred Heart and Hartford.

Marist holds an 8-2 record in the MAAC after splitting a series with Siena on Saturday, April 13. The Red Foxes won the first game, 6-0, and dropped the second game, 5-3. Caroline Baratta leads the team with a .342 average with 50 hits, 31 runs, 11 doubles, two triples and one homerun. Freshman Calista Phippen leads the team in the circle and is one of the most dominant pitchers in the MAAC with a 13-3 record and 1.61 ERA. Her ERA leads the MAAC and she has recorded 132 strikeouts, which ranks second in the MAAC.

- Sophomore Kayla Jensen leads the team with a .377 batting average, which is ranked as the seventh-best in the MAAC. Her 49 hits and 16 stolen bases are ranked second in the MAAC.
- Senior Rebecca Drake is ranked second in conference with 13 doubles.
- Senior Erin Larsen is ranked fourth in the MAAC with a .462 on-base percentage and has been walked 26 times, which is ranked second in the MAAC.
