Softball Edged by Saints in Doubleheader

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team dropped two MAAC games against the Siena Saints on Sunday afternoon. Despite a late seventh inning comeback, the Bobcats lost the first game, 4-2, and then dropped the second game, 7-1. The Saints hit three homeruns in the second game to secure the sweep.
Quinnipiac is now 13-26 overall and 4-6 in the MAAC. Siena improves to 12-16 on the season and 5-3 in the MAAC.
Game 1
Seventh Inning – The Bobcats were close to making a comeback in the seventh inning after being down, 4-0. Senior Rebecca Drake reached first base after an error by Siena's second baseman. Junior Megan Dyson came in to pinch run for Drake. Freshman Alexis Otero hit a single to left center, and Dyson advanced to second. Freshman Hannah Davis then hit a single up the middle, allowing Otero to advance to second. Dyson was caught stealing at third base. Freshman Lo Yarnall came up and hit a two-RBI double to send Otero and Davis home.
The Saints would hold on to win the first game, 4-2.
Highlights
Fourth Inning - The Bobcats would come within one run of the Saints' 2-0 lead. Senior Erin Larsen hit a double down the left field line to get to second base. Otero hit a double to send Larsen home.
Siena would score a three-run homerun in the seventh inning to take a late 7-1 lead. The Saints would hold the Bobcats to just one run and secured the win, 7-1.
Highlights
Quinnipiac will have four more home games coming up next week. Marist will come to Hamden on Thursday, April 18 for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
