Bobcats Second Half Comeback Falls Short
RIVERDALE, N.Y. – A tenacious defensive effort in the second half and five second-half saves for Allie Kelsey were not enough for Quinnipiac women's lacrosse to complete the comeback in an 11-9 loss at Manhattan Saturday evening.
Allison Kuhn and Megan Szawlowski each tallied three goals and an assist in the loss.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Jaspers came out firing on their senior night, scoring twice in the opening 2:07 of play.
- Kuhn and Szawlowski brought the Bobcats right back, each recording a goal and an assist in just over a minute and tying the game at 2-2.
- Cassidy Burns and Grace Lipponer got both goals back for Manhattan. Lipponer's free position goal put the hosts back up by two goals, 4-2, with 17:14 left in the opening half.
- Maddie Deegan scored her 17th of the season, just 64 seconds later, to pull Quinnipiac within one, but the Jaspers earned another score at the 14:13 mark to regain the two-goal edge.
- Freshman Sophie Spencer scored her ninth goal of the year on a free position shot at 5:39 and Kuhn added another with 1:47 left, but Manhattan equaled the tallies with two of their own to take an 8-5 lead into the break.
- After Molly Fitzpatrick scored her fourth goal of the night in the opening two minutes of the second half, the Bobcats struck for three consecutive goals to cut the deficit to one. Brianna Fitzgerald, Szawlowski, Kuhn, all found the back of the net in the rally.
- Quinnipiac held Manhattan off the board for 22:22 in the second half until Alaina Burgess doubled the Jaspers' lead with 5:58 on the clock.
- Szawlowski quickly responded, as her third goal of the game made it a 10-9 game with 4:56 to play.
- Fitzpatrick scored a man-up goal, her fifth of the night, with 3:21 on the clock to give Manhattan insurance and put the game out of reach.
- The Bobcats were outshot by the Jaspers, 38-19 in total, including a 21-9 advantage in the second half.
- Quinnipiac completed 17 of its 21 clear attempts in the contest, while Manhattan was a perfect 15-15.
- The hosts won the draw control battle, 13-9; just the second time in five games that the Bobcats did not earn more draw controls.
- Both teams caused six turnovers in the affair, while Manhattan recorded a 20-13 advantage in ground balls.
- Sami Walters started the game, making eight saves, but ultimately took the loss. Kelsey relieved her in the second half and made five saves on seven shots.
- Kuhn's three goals and four points move her into tenth and ninth, respectively, in Quinnipiac's single-season record book. The senior now has 39 goals and 18 assists this season for 57 points with one regular season game remaining.
- Ten Bobcats recorded at least one ground ball in the game and five players earned at least one draw control.
- The Bobcats return to Hamden for the regular season finale as the Monmouth Hawks visit the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. tilt on Saturday, April 20.
