Softball Splits Thursday Doubleheader with Hartford

Game 1
First Inning - Quinnipiac opened the game with three runs in the bottom of the first. With senior Erin Larsen on second and freshman Bridget Nasir on third, sophomore Brighid Douglas hit a single to right field, allowing Nasir to score. Senior Rebecca Drake hit next and recorded a fielder's choice, and Larsen scored her first run of the day. Freshman Alexis Otero hit a single to center field, and Douglas scored, giving the Bobcats a 3-0 lead to go into the second inning.
Third Inning - Douglas scored her second run of the game from third base after freshman Lo Yarnall grounded out second base. Quinnipiac would go into the fourth inning leading, 4-0.
Fourth Inning - Sophomore Kayla Jensen hit a triple to lead the Bobcats off in the fourth. Nasir grounded out second base, allowing Jensen to score.
Fifth Inning - With a 5-0 lead, the Bobcats scored one more run in the fifth inning. Freshman Hannah Davis stole second base, and Jensen then hit a single to left field, allowing Davis to score. Quinnipiac would hold on to the 6-0 lead and take the first game.
Highlights
First Inning - The Bobcats came out firing in the first inning of game two, scoring five runs. With the bases loaded, Drake hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Jensen scored from third. Otero hit a single to third base, sending Larsen and Douglas home. Davis hit a double to left field, allowing Otero to score from second. Freshman Lo Yarnall then hit a single up the middle, and Davis scored the fifth run of the inning.
Second Inning - Quinnipiac would add two more runs in the second. Freshman Danielle Sorenson got on base with a single, and Nasir followed with a single of her own. Larsen loaded the bases after being walked. Douglas was also walked, forcing Sorenson to score from third base. Drake then hit a single at the pitcher, and Nasir scored. Quinnipiac would go into the third inning up, 7-1.
Sixth Inning - The Bobcats would tack on another run in the sixth. After Larsen hit a triple to lead off the Bobcats, Douglas hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Larsen scored.
Hartford came back after being down six runs to close the Bobcats' lead to 7-6 in fourth inning. The Hawks would then take the lead in the seventh inning after scoring three runs and would later hold on to win, 9-8.

Quinnipiac will host the Siena Saints on Sunday, April 14 for a MAAC doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
