Bobcats Improve to 11-13 on the Season as Correira Tosses Career-High Seven Innings
NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Arthur Correira (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) continued his impressive season on the mound as he tossed a career-high seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits with five strikeouts as the Quinnipiac baseball team completed its second-straight weekend sweep with a 3-1 win over the Niagara Purple Eagles.
Correira struck out the side in the fifth inning and had three 1-2-3 innings as he kept the Niagara hitters off-balance in the Bobcats third straight win. Quinnipiac pulled within two games of .500 with the victory.
Michael Kohn (Rockville, Maryland) led the Bobcats as he was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut), Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts)a and Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts) all finished the day with two hits each as the Bobcats finished with 11 total hits.
Quinnipiac scored twice on Kohn's RBI single in the top of the second inning and never looked back, with the Bobcats pitching staff dazzling on the mound.

SECOND INNING
- After an Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) single, Samuel LaChance (Dover, New Hampshire) reached on a fielder's choice to make it two outs in the inning
- Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) followed with a bunt single to third base before Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) walked to load the bases.
- Kohn singled to right field to score a pair of runners and take a 2-0 lead
- After the Purple Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the third, the Bobcats added another run to take a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning
- Scafariello singled to lead off the inning and moved up to second on a throwing error
- Kohn laid down a sacrifice bunt, reaching on the fielder's choice as Scafariello was safe at third
- Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) reached on a fielder's choice that scored Scafariello and as the Bobcats held on.
- Kohn returned to the lineup with his first two-hit and two RBI game of his career in just his eighth game and fifth career start
- Correira's seven-inning effort is good for a career-high as the right-hander struck out five batters for the third time this season
- He has not allowed more than five hits in a start this season
- Moskey has hit safely in four of his last five games as he recovers from an early slump as he went 2 for 4 with a run scored
- Moskey now has 180 career hits
- Ostberg's 2 for 4 day was his fourth straight multi-hit game as he pushed his batting average back over .300 during his five-game hitting streak
- He also recorded his 10th stolen base of the season in the win, tied with Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) for the most on the team
- Huscher also tallied two hits, including a double, as he recorded his first hit since March 17
- Marrero singled as he extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the best on the team this season
- Nicolosi was solid in one inning of work as he struck out two batters in the eighth inning before Workman pitched the ninth to close out his third save of the season
- Quinnipiac has just one midweek game slated for this week as the Bobcats will travel to New Britain, Connecticut, to take on the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils on Tuesday.
- First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at the CCSU Baseball Field.
