Quinnipiac Baseball Head Coach Becomes Third in Program History with 100 Wins
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team exploded for 13 runs Saturday afternoon as head coach John Delaney earned his 100th career victory as the Bobcats head coach with a 13-0 victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks at Yale Field.
Tyler Poulin (Randolph, New Jersey) and Connor Mahoney (North Salem, New York) combined to shut out the Peacocks, allowing just three hits in the Bobcats first shutout of the season. Poulin recorded seven strikeouts in seven innings of work while Mahoney had two strikeouts in two innings.
Samuel LaChance (Dover, New Hampshire) led the Bobcats offensively with three hits, including a double, scored three runs and drove in three RBIs in his first career MAAC game. Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) also went 3 for 5 with a double and had two RBIs, two stolen bases and one run scored while Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) was 2 for 5 with two stolen bases.
Every Quinnipiac starter scored at least one run for the Bobcats in the dominating win over Saint Peter's.

SECOND INNING
- Ostberg led off the inning with a single to left before stealing second base.
- Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) followed with a walk and Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) reached on a bunt single before everyone advanced on a wild pitch that scored Ostberg.
- Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) walked before a pitching chance and Kyle Horton (Monroe, Connecticut) followed with an RBI walk
- Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) singled to left to score Moskey before LaChance brought home two runs with a single to left to take a 5-0 lead in the inning
- Later in the inning, LaChance scored on a wild pitch before Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) came home to score on an RBI single to right from Ostberg.
- Maves led off the innings with a single to right field and promptly stole second and third to put himself in scoring position
- After a Marrero walk, Maves came home to score on a balk while LaChance followed with a single up the middle to score Marrero from second base
- Vulgamore singled to left and the pair moved into scoring position on a groundout from Ostberg before LaChance scored on a balk to take a 10-0 lead
- LaChance doubled to left field to lead off the sixth inning and came home to score two batters later on a double to left field from Ostberg
- Cruz reached on a throwing error by Saint Peter's third baseman to lead off the inning and was quickly brought home with a double to deep left center field from Michael Kohn (Rockville, Maryland) and give Quinnipiac a 12-0 lead
- The Bobcats rounded out the scoring as Vulgamore doubled to left center field and scored as Scafariello doubled through the left side of the infield
- Saturday's victory was the 100th of Quinnipiac head coach John Delaney's career, making him the third baseball coach in school history with 100 victories
- Delaney joins Dan "Skip" Gooley who had 439 wins in 24 seasons from 1977-97 and 2002-14 and Earl Matthewson who had 174 wins in nine seasons from 1988-96
- LaChance had career-highs on Saturday with his three hits, three runs and three RBIs as he upped his batting average to .319 on the season
- Ostberg recorded three hits in a game for the second time this season and had two RBIs in a game for the third time as he was 3 for 5
- Poulin tossed a season-high seven innings and allowed no runs on three hits while his seven strikeouts were his second-most in a game this season
- He lowered his ERA to 4.50 this year while he has 38 strikeouts in 36 innings as he picked up his third win
- Maves tallied a pair of singles as he scored a run for a fourth straight game and has runs in six of his last seven while he stole a pair of bases to remain perfect on the season
- Vulgamore went 2 for 5 to give him his fifth multi-hit game in the past six games and had a double for his 10th of the season, one shy of his career-high
- He also scored two runs as he continues to average a run per game with 17 runs in 17 games
- Marrero extended his hitting streak to five games as he singled, walked twice, stole two bases and had a run and RBI
- Marrero leads the team with eight stolen bases this season
- Kohn recorded his first career hit with his seventh-inning double and had his first career RBI
- Quinnipiac returns to the Quinnipiac baseball field Sunday for a doubleheader with the Saint Peter's Peacocks with first pitch set for 12 p.m. followed by game two shortly after the conclusion of game one.
