Softball Splits Doubleheader with Eastern Illinois

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Quinnipiac softball team split a doubleheader with Eastern Illinois University on Tuesday, March 12. The Bobcats came back to win the second game, 1-0, led by junior Rachel Marchuk and freshman Lo Yarnall in the eighth inning. Quinnipiac lost the first game of the doubleheader, 4-0.
The Bobcats will play one game March 13 against Colgate before the USF Under Armour Showcase begins on March 15.
Game 2 | QU 1, EUI 0:
Eighth inning - Marchuk reached second base after an error by the Panthers' shortstop with two outs in the top of the eighth inning. Yarnall doubled to right center field to send Marchuk home and give Quinnipiac the 1-0 lead. Yarnall tallied an RBI on the play.
Highlights vs EIU:
Freshman Lauren King pitched all eight innings and is now 3-2 on the season. She recorded four strikeouts with five hits, no walks and no runs.
Game 1 | EIU 4, QU 0:
Third inning - The Panthers scored all four runs in the third inning after a grand slam by Kendyl Mckeough who recorded her third homerun of the season.
Highlights vs EIU:
Senior Kendall Brundrett pitched all seven innings and recorded one strikeout and one walk. Brundrett moves to 1-6 on the season.

The Bobcats will play a single game tomorrow, March 13, against the Colgate Raiders at 1 p.m.
