Bobcats Senior Captain Led One of Nation's Best Defenses to Regular Season Championship
- ECAC HOCKEY PRESS RELEASE
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior captain Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) has been selected as a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman Award, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, March 12.
Priskie was selected as a finalist alongside Greg Moro from Clarkson and Matt Nuttle from Cornell.
Priskie is Quinnipiac's first finalist for the award since Devon Toews in the 2015-16 season. Zach Davies '13 was named the Best Defensive Defenseman in ECAC Hockey in the 2012-13 season.
Priskie helped guide the Bobcats to a share of their fourth Cleary Cup in the past seven seasons, including two in his time at Quinnipiac. He was part of Quinnipiac's first penalty kill unit, which ranks fourth in the nation at 86.8 percent and is tops in ECAC Hockey.
On the defensive end of the ice, Priskie blocked 33 shots on the season and had 25 blocks in league play. He was also part of a defensive unit that is third in the nation allowing 1.85 goals per game and allowed just 2.14 goals per game in league play.
In addition to his defensive prowess, Priskie is among the top offensive players in the country with 17 goals, 22 assists and 39 points and is one point away from becoming Quinnipiac's first 40-point defenseman since Reid Cashman '07 had three straight 40-point seasons from 2004-05 through 2006-07.
The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team returns to the ice for the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals on Friday night in the first game of a best-of-three games series with the No. 8 seed Brown Bears. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
