Women's Basketball Routs Monmouth, Advances to Sixth Straight MAAC Championship

Bobcats Down Hawks by 38 Points, 80-42, Led by Martin's Game-High 17 Points
ALBANY, N.Y. – Four different Bobcats scored in double figures Sunday as the No. 1 seed Quinnipiac women's basketball team stormed past the No. 4 seed Monmouth Hawks, 80-42, and advanced to the team's sixth straight MAAC Championship game.
Quinnipiac's victory was its 51st straight against MAAC opponents, tied with Duke's streak against ACC opponents from Feb. 22, 2001-Feb. 2, 2004 for the 10th longest streak in NCAA history. Overall, Quinnipiac extended its season winning streak to 20 games, one of just two winning streaks of 20-plus games in the NCAA this season (Baylor, 21).
The Bobcats and Hawks traded baskets in the opening few minutes before Quinnipiac went on an 11-0 run in a span of 2:32 to take a 12-point lead and never looked back. Quinnipiac allowed just 10 points over the second and third quarters as the Bobcats outscored the Hawks, 35-10, to take a 62-21 lead into the final quarter of play.
Quinnipiac's 38-point win over Monmouth was its third largest postseason victory after a pair of 39-point wins, including most recently against Monmouth last season in the MAAC Quarterfinals on March 2, 2018.
Brittany Martin (Sicklerville, New Jersey) led all scorers with 17 points on Sunday followed by Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) with 15 points, Taylor Herd (Quakertown, Pennsylvania) with 14 points and Jen Fay (Lynbrook, New York) with 11 points.
