Bobcats Down Pioneers, 8-2

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Quinnipiac softball team defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 8-2, on Friday afternoon on the second day of the Liberty Softball Classic. The Bobcats started playing against Cleveland State later in the day, but a prolonged rain delay pushed the finish. The teams will continue the game tomorrow, Saturday, March 2. A time has not been announced.

Fourth Inning: Senior Rebecca Drake and junior Rachel Marchuk hit a double and single, respectively, to help the Bobcats scored five runs in the fourth inning. Down 1-0 to start the innings, Quinnipiac came back and extended the lead to four runs going into the fifth inning.
Fifth Inning: Drake and Marchuk both hit singles in the fifth inning to give the Bobcats three more runs. Marchuk also recorded a stolen base in the inning. Late in the inning, sophomore Kayla Jensen singled through the right side to allow Marchuk and senior Erin Larsen to score. The Bobcats would finish the inning with an 8-2 lead, which would be enough to secure the win.
