Bobcats Score Two Goals in Third, Including Game-Tying Goal with 12.2 Seconds Left
HAMDEN, Conn. – William Fällström (Stockholm, Sweden) scored the game-tying goal with 12.2 seconds remaining in regulation Sunday night as the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team skated to a 4-4 tie with the Brock Badgers in an exhibition contest at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
Trailing 4-3, the Bobcats pulled goaltender Evan Fear (Winnetka, Illinois) with about 1:30 remaining in regulation before Quinnipiac could strike as Wyatt Bongiovanni (Birmingham, Michigan) worked the puck to Zach Metsa (Delafield, Wisconsin) at the right point and he shot it on net for Fällström to tip past Brock goaltender Jacob Hutchings.
Fear was solid in goal for the third period and overtime for the Bobcats, making 11 saves to keep the Badgers off the board and allow the Bobcats to come from behind and tie the game.
Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) and Bongiovanni each had a goal and an assist in Sunday's exhibition in addition to Fällström's late equalizer. Nick Jermain (Norwalk, Connecticut) pulled the Bobcats within a goal early in the third period as he batted the puck out of mid-air without looking.
The offense was buzzing for the Bobcats from start to finish as they outshot the Badgers, 57-23 including a 28-7 edge in the second period. Quinnipiac recorded a total of 100 shots compared to 37 for the Badgers and hit six posts.

SCORING SUMMARY
Head Coach Rand Pecknold
"It was one of those crazy games you play where you look up at the clock and shots are 37-9 and we're losing 3-1. It doesn't happen often but it happens once in a while.
"There's definitely a lot of negatives that we can get better with but there were certainly some positives like coming back down two goals and finding a way to score with 12 seconds left. We had some big kills in the third, the three-on-five kill was great and Fear played really well for his first college action coming in in the third."
