Women's Soccer to Host Monmouth Saturday

Bobcats, Hawks to kickoff at 12 PM
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's soccer team is set to host the Monmouth Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 12 p.m. The Bobcats are coming off a 1-0 loss at Marist, and the Hawks will come to Hamden after a 3-1 win over Manhattan.

Last Time Out:
Quinnipiac traveled to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to play the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Despite only recorded two shots, Marist won 1-0 in a defensive battle against the Bobcats. Quinnipiac tallied 16 shots, with freshman Markela Bejleri and senior Kelsey Goldring recording three shots each and sophomore Selena Salas adding four. The Bobcats moved to 1-2 in conference play and the Red Foxes improved to 1-1-1.
Scouting Monmouth:
The Monmouth Hawks sit at the top of the conference standings with a perfect 3-0 record. The defending MAAC Champions have won four-straight games after defeating #25 Texas, 4-0, on Sept. 15. The Hawks' are at the top of the MAAC in goals allowed per game with an average of 0.44 per game. The Hawks have only allowed four goals against through nine games, which is tied for third-least in NCAA Division I. Monmouth opened conference play with three-straight wins against Saint Peter's, Marist and Manhattan, outscoring opponents, 9-2.

Quinnipiac holds an all-time record against Monmouth of 6-20-2. Last season, alomst a year ago to the day of Saturday's game, the Bobcats lost to the Hawks, 1-4, in West Long Branch, N.J.

Kelsey Goldring leads the Bobcats with seven points on three goals and one assist. Sophomore Selena Salas is second on the team with five points on two goals and one assist.
Phillips between the Posts:
Freshman Meaghan Phillips has recorded three shutouts this season and holds a 1.00 goals against average, which is good for third-best in the MAAC. Her three shutouts lead the conference. The Aurora, Ontario native also has a .757 save percentage, which is eighth in the MAAC.

The Monmouth Hawks sit at the top of the conference standings with a 3-0 record. Rider and Fairfield hold the second and third spots as the only other two teams without a loss in conference play. Marist and Siena are in fourth and fifth with the same record at 1-1-1. Canisius, Niagara, Quinnipiac Saint Peter's, Iona and Manhattan hold the final spots in the standing.
