
Women's Soccer Tops Niagara on Senior Day

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's soccer program earned its second-straight league win on Saturday afternoon, downing Niagara by the final score of 3-0 during Senior Day at the QU Soccer Stadium.
Kayla Mingachos, Olivia Scott and Emily Loney all scored in the win for the Bobcats – who earned their third MAAC victory of 2019. Senior goalkeeper Olivia Myszewski recorded her first shutout of the season in the win.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Half
- (24' – Quinnipiac 1, Niagara 0): Freshman Kayla Mingachos got the Bobcats on the board midway through the first half of action. Ally Grunstein possessed the ball down the right side of the field, then played a beautiful cross in toward Mingachos – who finished with her left foot to make it 1-0 Quinnipiac. Selena Salas also earned an assist on the goal.
- (44' – Quinnipiac 2, Niagara 0): Freshman Olivia Scott made it 2-0 less than 20 minutes later, finishing in traffic out in front of the goal. Lauren Wendland touched the ball slightly to her left to Scott, then Scott poked it into the back of the net.
- (82' – Quinnipiac 3, Niagara 0): The Bobcats recorded their third goal of the contest with 8:34 left in regulation. Katie Schwartz played a set piece in toward goal from outside of the box, and Emily Loney was able to put in the deflection for her second goal of the season.
- The Bobcats outshot Niagara 13-6, recording seven shots in the first half and six in the second half. Quinnipiac had possession of the ball for 52 percent of the game.
- Myszewski now has 13 career clean sheets, and owns a 0.95 goals-against average in 2019.
- Mingacho's goal is the first of her Quinnipiac career. The freshman recorded an assist earlier in the year vs. Hartford, giving her three career points.
- Scott now has three goals and three assists for a team-high nine points. The freshman has scored in each of the last two games for the Bobcats.
- Loney, a sophomore, has two goals in 2019. She recorded an assist as a freshman in 2018, giving her five career points.
- Grunstein assisted on two of Quinnipiac's three goals, giving her a team-high six helpers this year. The senior has 24 career assists – the third-most in program history. She needs two more assists to move into a tie with Maureen Anderson ('00) for second on the all-time list.
- Salas now has four assists this season to go along with two goals for eight total points.
- Wendland's helper is her third of the season – giving her five points in 13 games.
- Schwartz earned her first career point with the assist on Quinnipiac's third goal of the day.
- The Bobcats return to play on Wednesday, Oct. 16, traveling to Saint Peter's for a 3:00 p.m. MAAC contest.
