Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight MAAC Game, Defeats Saint Peter's 1-0

Loney scores third straight goal in 1-0
HAMDEN, Conn. – Sophomore Emily Loney scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. The Bobcats have won three-straight MAAC games with Loney scoring one goal in each of the last three wins. Freshman Meaghan Phillips recorded her fifth shutout of the season.
The first half went by with no goals scored from either team. The Bobcats took a penalty kick in the first half, but Victoria Scarratt saved it. In the 60th minute, Loney scored the only goal needed for the Bobcats' win.

- (60' – Quinnipiac 1, Saint Peter's 0): Sophomore Lainey Lewis sent a ball into the box to sophomore Emily Loney. Loney controlled the pass and cut back inside, beating two Saint Peter's defenders, and shot the ball over Scarratt to give Quinnipiac the 1-0 lead and eventual win.
- The Bobcats outshot the Peacocks 22-4 with nine shots on goal.
- Loney scored her third goal of the season and has scored in three straight games. The Bobcats are 3-0 when Loney scores.
- Freshman Meaghan Phillips recorded her fifth shutout of the season. She is now tied with Gwen Miller '93 with five regular-season shutouts, which is ranked 10th on the program's all-time single-season records list. Five other former Bobcats have recorded six shutouts on a season, and two have the all-time single-season record of seven shutouts.
- Phillips made two saves in the shutout.
- The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 to take on Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
