HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior Matthew Taylor (Dublin, Ireland) scored a goal in each half on Friday night, leading Quinnipiac men's soccer past in-state rival Central Connecticut, 2-1, in the Bobcats' 2018 non-conference finale.

- 12:42 (Quinnipiac 1, CCSU 0): Matthew Taylor (Dublin, Ireland) got the Bobcats on the board in the 13th minute, lofting a shot over CCSU's goalkeeper from 30 yards out to make it 1-0 Bobcats. The goal was Taylor's first of the season.
- 42:11 (Quinnipiac 1, CCSU 1): Central Connecticut's Louis Beddouri evened the game just before the end of the half, scoring his team-high third goal of the year.
- 76:22 (Quinnipiac 2, CCSU 1): Taylor's game-winner came in the 77th minute of action. He collected a loose ball just outside the 18, then blasted it into the top right corner of the net to give the Bobcats the advantage.
NOTES
- With the win, Quinnipiac head coach Eric Da Costa now has 99 career victories with the Bobcats.
- Taylor's two goals are his first of 2018. Prior to today's contest, the last time the senior found the back of the net was on Oct. 7, 2017 vs. Canisius in Hamden.
- Taylor also recorded a team-high five shots, while Rashawn Dally (Bloomfield, CT), Eamon Whelan (New Fairfield, CT) and Jordon Bennett (Tumi Umi, Australia) all tallied two shots.
- Quinnipiac outshot CCSU 13-10 in total. The Bobcats recorded nine shots in the second half of action – the most the program has recorded in a single half so far in 2018.
- Jared Mazzola (Katonah, NY) turned in another impressive performance in net, making three saves en route to his second victory of the year.
- The Bobcats attempted six corners in the win – with four coming in the second half.
- Quinnipiac begins MAAC play on Wednesday, Sept. 26, traveling to Buffalo to take on Canisius at 4 p.m.
