
QU Softball Drops Road Doubleheader at Manhattan, 2-1 and 7-2

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac softball team dropped two crucial MAAC games as the Bobcats lost a doubleheader at Manhattan on Saturday afternoon, 2-1 in game one and 7-2 in game two.
Casey Herzog got the start in game one and tossed five shutout innings before giving up two runs in the sixth. Herzog gave up six hits and struck out two batters.
Rebecca Drake drove in the lone Quinnipiac run with a solo home run in the top of the second inning to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats held the one-run heading into the bottom of the sixth, when the Jaspers were able to load the bases with no outs. Herzog then walked in a run, and with one out a sacrifice fly gave the Jaspers a 2-1 lead. The Bobcats went down in order in the seventh to take the 2-1 loss.
In game two, Manhattan got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in the first inning. However, Megan Dyson hit a solo home run to put Quinnipiac on the board in the third inning.
Keala Cordeiro aided the comeback attempt by hitting a solo home run in the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-2. However, Manhattan tallied three runs in the fourth to secure the 7-2 victory.
Quinnipiac will be back in action on Sunday, May 6, when the Bobcats welcome Saint Peter's to Hamden, Conn., for Senior Day at noon.
