QU Softball Splits MAAC Opener With Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Junior Rebecca Drake blasted a pinch-hit two-run home run and Casey Herzog went the distance as the QU softball team downed Rider 6-1 in game one before falling 10-0 in game two, as the Bobcats split their MAAC doubleheader on the road against Rider on Saturday, March 31 at the Rider Softball Field.

- Courtney followed by reaching base on an error while Magana scored to bring the score to 2-1.
- Herzog followed by reaching base on a fielder's choice, sacrifice bunt error in the field, allowing two runs to score to give the Bobcats a 4-1 lead.
- Drake pinch-hit for Emily Czaja and launched a two-run homer to center field to secure the 6-1 win for Quinnipiac.
- Herzog got the start and took the loss in game two.
- Despite the loss, Herzog gave up no earned runs and struck out four.
- Brighid Douglas, Erin Larsen and Abbey Long recorded a hit apiece in the loss.
- Larsen and Douglas each drew a walk, while Courtney drew two.
Quinnipiac will be back in action on Tuesday, April 3, when the Bobcats travel to take on Providence at 4 p.m.
