
QU Baseball Falls at Dartmouth in Final Tune-Up Before MAAC Play

HANOVER, N.H. - The Quinnipiac baseball team fell to Dartmouth College on Wednesday afternoon, 11-4, in its final game before conference play begins this weekend. The Bobcats had six hits on the afternoon, including home runs from senior Ben Gibson and junior Liam Scafariello, while sophomore Evan Vulagmore drove home the other run and had a multi-hit game.

The Bobcats take on Saint Peter's in their first MAAC action this weekend in a three game series. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m. A doubleheader is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday for games two and three of the series.

NOTES
- The Bobcats took the lead in the top of the first inning, when sophomore Evan Vulgamore doubled down the left field line to score classmate Dylan Lutz, who reached base via leadoff single and swiped second base.
- The Big Green went on to score ten unanswered runs from the bottom of the first to the fourth. They put up four runs in the 1st inning, two runs in the 2nd, and four runs again in the bottom of the 4th.
- Sophomore Derek Kasperzyk led off the top of the fifth with his first hit of the season, a single through the left side of the infield.
- Senior Ben Gibson would step to the plate next and drive one over the left-center field wall and bring the score to 10-3.. The home run was his team-leading fifth of the year and increased his RBI total into double figures with 11.
- Junior Liam Scafariello sent a two-out solo blast to right-center field in the top of the 6th inning to make it a 10-4 game Scafariello now has three homers on the campaign and continues to lead the team in runs batted in with 17.
- Sophomore Colin Donnelly pitched the final two innings of the game. He collected four strikeouts while giving up only three hits and allowing an unearned run.
- This was the 22nd consecutive game that the Bobcats have played on the road to begin the 2018 season.
