Junior attack Allison Kuhn added four goals, senior attack Loren Antonacci had three, and freshman midfielder Avery Drouin had two goals and three assists.
BOBINSKI NAMED MAAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After her nine-point performance in Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb, sophomore attack Ashley Bobinski earned the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Award. Bobinski scored on all five of her shots and surpassed her previous career high of eight points, which she set earlier this season against Saint Francis, Pa. (six goals, two assists). Bobinski now leads the Bobcats with 33 points on 20 goals and 13 assists and ranks third in the MAAC in points per game (4.12).
BOBCAT LEADERBOARD
Sophomore Ashley Bobinski leads the Bobcats in goals (20), assists (13) and points (33) to date. Senior attack Emily Byrne is second in points (15) and tied for second in assists (6) with freshman midfielder Avery Drouin, while junior attack Allison Kuhn is second in goals (12). Defensively, Kiera Kelly leads Quinnipiac in ground balls (36) and caused turnovers (21), while Drouin has a team-high 14 draw controls.Kyle Larkin has 66 saves and a .516 save percentage in goal.
KELLY IN THE MAAC
Senior defender Kiera Kelly was a member of the Preseason All-MAAC team and is showing that those honors were well deserved. Kelly is currently tied for the MAAC lead in ground balls per game at 4.5 (36 in eight games) and is a very close second in caused turnovers per game at 2.62 (21 in eight games), just behind Gabriella DiCromizio of Iona at 2.67 (24 in nine games).
A DECORATED CAREER
Senior defender Kiera Kelly has earned plenty of accolades in her career and is making a strong bid for postseason honors again this spring. A year ago, she tallied 55 ground balls, which ranked fourth in Quinnipiac history, and 40 caused turnovers, which ranked second. Her 2.35 caused turnovers per game led the MAAC and ranked ninth in the country while her 3.24 ground balls per game ranked second in the MAAC and placed her 17th nationally. She also became the first student-athlete in program history to earn All-ECAC First Team honors with her selection in 2017, making her the lone representative from the MAAC and one of only seven non-seniors to earn All-ECAC honors last year.
STRONG BUILDING BLOCKS
As a new head coach last season, Tanya Kotowicz was fortunate to have a couple of strong building blocks in her first recruiting class. Attack Ashley Bobinski and defender Haley Everding were both chosen to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2017 after emerging as starters in their first campaigns. Both have continued in their starting roles this season, with Bobinski leading the team in scoring and Everding playing alongside All-MAAC senior Kiera Kelly to anchor the Bobcat defense.
A LITTLE LESS DRAMA
So far this season, the Bobcats have been on the winning end of some convincing final scores, including an 18-9 win over Gardner-Webb in their last outing on Saturday. A year ago, Quinnipiac did not have much experience milking leads, as all four of their wins were by one goal. The Bobcats defeated Central Connecticut 10-9 in Tanya Kotowicz' debut, then defeated Manhattan 10-9 on a goal with eight seconds left, edged Iona in overtime 14-13 and clinched a MAAC Tournament bid with a 12-11 win over Siena.
LAST YEAR vs. MONMOUTH
Quinnipiac overcame an early 4-0 deficit to take an 8-7 lead with 19:15 to go, but Monmouth closed the game on a 5-0 run to earn a 12-8 win over the Bobcats last season at Yale's Reese Stadium. Current junior Allison Kuhn was the seventh different Bobcat to score when she found the net with 19:15, but Kate Ryan started and ended the 5-0 run that gave the Hawks the win. Olivia Higson had a hat trick for Monmouth, while current senior Kyle Larkin and Monmouth's Riley Brager each had 12 saves.
BOBCATS SIXTH IN PRESEASON POLL.
In the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the Bobcats were chosen to finish sixth in the MAAC this season. The top six finishers qualify for the MAAC Tournament, which will be held on Apr. 28 through May 6. Quinnipiac had a record-setting 2017 as it clinched a berth in the MAAC Tournament for the first time in program history with an 11-10 win over Siena on Apr. 19, 2017. The Bobcats fell to Marist, 17-10, in the opening round of the MAAC Tournament.
