
QU Women's Lacrosse Drops MAAC Opener on the Road at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth women's lacrosse team jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and maintained it the rest of the way as it took a 14-8 win over the Bobcats in the MAAC opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon. Senior defender Kiera Kelly had a huge day on defense in a losing cause, tallying seven caused turnovers and eight ground balls.

- Senior All-America candidate Kiera Kelly had a huge day on defense, tallying seven caused turnovers and eight ground balls for the Bobcats.
- Kelly had seven of Quinnipiac's 12 caused turnovers on the day, and eight of its 21 ground balls.
- Junior attack Jenna Henningsen came into the game with one goal on the year, but struck three times int he first half to help the Bobcats stay in it after Monmouth jumped ahead 3-0.
- After Monmouth went ahead 6-1, Henningsen and sophomore midfielder Brianna Fitzgerald had back-to-back goals 40 seconds apart for the Bobcats to close within 6-3 at the 12:08 mark of the first half.
- Junior attack Allison Kuhn capped off the first half scoring with 28 seconds left to make the score 8-5 at the break.
- Monmouth broke the game open at the start of the second half with a 4-0 run to make the score 12-5.
- Quinnipiac fought back with a 3-0 run, as Fitzgerald, junior defender Aubrey Conti and Kuhn each scored in succession to close the score to 12-8 with 5:02 to go, but that was as close as the Bobcats could get.
