ALBANY, New York – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its major award winners for the 2017-18 season on Friday morning, March 2, where Quinnipiac head coach Tricia Fabbri was named The MAAC Coach of the Year for the third time in her career.
Fabbri earns her sixth career Coach of the Year honor as she led the Bobcats to a 24-5 record in the regular season, making it the seventh consecutive season that the Bobcats have won at least 20 games. Quinnipiac is just one of 19 teams in the nation to have won at least 20 or more games in seven straight seasons (2011-2018). Quinnipiac's 182-51 mark (.781 win percentage) is the 10th best of the 19 teams to have won at least 20 games every season from 2011-2018.
The all-time winningest coach in Quinnipiac women's basketball history (403 career wins) guided the Bobcats to an 18-0 record in MAAC play, making it the third time in program history and third time in six seasons that the team has finished with a perfect conference record. Since joining the MAAC in 2013-14, Fabbri has led the Bobcats to a record of 96-14 (.872) in all games against MAAC opponents and 86-12 (.877) in regular season MAAC games, both records that currently lead all teams in the conference.
Top-seeded Quinnipiac opens the MAAC Tournament with a quarterfinals contest against No. 9 seed Monmouth at the Times Union Center in Albany on Friday, March 2, at 1 p.m.
