
QU Baseball Rallies Late to Defeat Charleston, 6-5

MOUNT PLEASANT, South Carolina - The Quinnipiac baseball team was victorious over the College of Charleston on Tuesday night, 6-5. The Bobcats picked up their seventh win of the year, the fourth in their five four contests. Quinnipiac handed the Cougars their fourth loss of 2018.

NOTES
- Junior Liam Scafariello launched a two-run home run with one out in the top of the 8th inning to tie the game at 5. He brought home classmate Brian Moskey, who reached base with a one-out single, with his second round-tripper of the year.
- Sophomore Evan Vulgamore drove home the game-winning run with an RBI single in the top of the ninth.
- Freshman Ian Ostberg scored the game-winning run after leading off the frame with a base knock and advancing to scoring position with a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Dylan Lutz.
- Freshman Joe Preciado earned his first victory as a Bobcat with three innings of scoreless relief.
- Preciado found himself in trouble in the eighth, runners on first and second and with no outs, but was able to work his way out with a pair of ground outs and a strikeout to finish the frame.
- The freshman right-hander fanned three Cougars and only allowed three hits in his winning effort.
- Quinnipiac found the scoreboard first, when senior Anthony Cruz plated classmate Julius Saporito with a single in the top of the 2nd inning.
- After allowing a pair of runs, the Bobcats would even the score in the top of the sixth.
- Evan Vulgamore walked and stole second base before he would score the first run of the inning,
- He did so when Brian Moskey reached on an error. Moskey would advance to second base on the play.
- Senior Ben Gibson would send Moskey home with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at three.
- Senior Chris Enns got the start on the hill for Quinnipiac, working 5.1 innings in his first start of the season. He allowed five runs (one earned) while collecting six strikeouts and giving up only four hits.
- Senior Mike DellaMedaglia completed the sixth inning for the Bobcats.
- The Bobcats were able to cut down a runner at home for the second out of the 6th inning to the Cougars to 2 runs in the inning.
- Quinnipiac is now 5-1 in 2018 when they score a run in the ninth inning.
