QU Softball Goes 2-0 in Day Two of USF Under Armour Showcase

CLEARWATER, Florida - The Quinnipiac softball team went 2-0 in day two of the Under Armour Showcase at the University of South Florida on Saturday. The Bobcats defeated St. Joseph's 2-1 in the first game with Kendall Brundrett tossing a gem in a complete-game outing. Casey Herzog followed with a stellar perfomance of her own, going the distance in a 4-1 win over Bethune-Cookman.

GAME ONE (QU 2, St. Joseph's 1):

Kendall Brundrett earned her first win of the season after going the distance, giving up just one run on four hits, while striking out five in the process.
Six different Bobcats recorded a hit in the win.
Erin Larsen and Keala Cordeiro each drove in a run in the win.
St. Joseph's took a 1-0 lead after scoring a run in the first inning.
Brundrett gave up two hits in the first inning, then went on to only give up two more over the remaining six innings.
In the fifth inning, Larsen hit a sac-fly to drive in Brighid Douglas to tie the contest at 1-1.
Cordeiro immediately followed with an RBI single to give the Bobcats the 2-1 lead.

GAME TWO (QU 4, Bethune-Cookman 1):

Casey Herzog earned the win after going the distance, giving up one run and striking out five in the outing.
The win was Herzog's third of the season.
Erin Larsen led the way with two RBI's in the win.
Brighid Douglas recorded three hits and drove in a run in the victory.
The Bobcats took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Keala Cordeiro recorded a sacrifice fly to score Larsen.
The Bobcats went up 2-0 after Douglas doubled to drive in Rachel Marchuk in the second.
Bethune-Cookman cut into the Bobcats' lead after scoring a run in the top of the fourth inning.
Quinnipiac added two more insurance runs after Larsen drilled a two-out two-run double to left to give the Bobcats a 4-1 lead in the fourth.
