QU Softball Falls to South Dakota State and Central Florida in Day 3 of USF Under Armour Showcase

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Quinnipiac softball team closed the final day of competition at the USF Under Armour Showcase with a 10-8 loss to South Dakota State and a 7-1 loss to Central Florida. Both Keilani Finley and Brighid Douglas had a home run apiece on the day.

GAME ONE (South Dakota State 10, QU 8):

Kendall Brundrett got the start and took the loss in a solid outing.
Brundrett went four innings, gave up two hits and zero earned runs.
Bridghid Douglas, Keilani Finley and Rebecca Drake all recorded two RBI's apiece.
Erin Larsen and Lexi Courtney drove in a run apiece as well.
The Bobcats struck first in the top of the second inning after Douglas deposited a two-out, two-run homer over the wall.
The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead after Finley hit a solo home run in the fourth.
However, South Dakota responded for 10 runs in the fifth inning.
None of the runs were earned as the Bobcats committed a few errors in the frame.
Quinnipiac attempted to fight back by scoring five runs in the final two innings, but it wasn't enough.

GAME TWO (UCF 7, QU 1):

Casey Herzog got the start and took the loss.
In six innings, Herzog gave up two earned runs and struck out seven batters.
Brighid Douglas drove in the lone run for the Bobcats.
Finley was the lone Bobcat to record multiple hits in the loss.
Taylor Troyan and Courtney recorded a hit apiece.
The Bobcats got on the board first after Douglas drew a bases loaded two-out walk to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead.
However, UCF tallied seven runs over the next two innings to take the 7-1 win.
