GAME NOTES
- Quinnipiac ended the regular season as the No. 7 seed and will play No. 10 seed Siena in the opening round of the MAAC Tournament on Thursday evening. The winner of that game will advance to play No. 2 Canisius on Friday.
- Quinnipiac played its third double-overtime game on the road in the month of February, after also falling at Iona on Feb. 2 and at Fairfield on Feb. 17. The Bobcats also finished the regular season playing 13 of 30 games that were decided by two points or less.
- Senior guard Cameron Young (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished with 22 points, after having none at the half. He now has 567 points this season, 40 shy of the school record for points in a season at the Division I level.
- Freshman guard Rich Kelly (pictured) had 20 points, six assists and no turnovers against Manhattan's aggressive pressure defense, while playing 46 minutes.
- Kelly's three-pointer with 16 seconds left in regulation gave the Bobcats a 65-63 lead, after a three-pointer from Isaiah Washington (Williamsport, Pa.) brought Quinnipiac within one.
- Manhattan's Zavier Turner tied the score with a tough lay-up in traffic that rolled around and fell through with 4.8 seconds left. The Bobcats went end to end, but Young was forced into a tough three-pointer under heavy defensive pressure.
- The Bobcats led by three late in the first overtime, after a put-back by senior forward Chaise Daniels (Meriden, Conn.) in the final minute put Quinnipiac ahead 74-73, and Kelly made to foul shots.
- Manhattan's Rich Williams tied the score when he hit a tough three-pointer off an inbounds pass with 6.1 seconds left and again the Bobcats were unable to win the game at the buzzer.
- Freshman forward Jacob Rigoni (Adelaide, Australia) hit two straight three-pointers in the second overtime to put the Bobcats ahead by four, but Turner answered with two of his own to give Manhattan the lead for good at 88-86 with 1:44 left.
- Manhattan closed out the first half on an 8-0 run to take a 26-23 lead into the break.
- Rigoni had 10 straight Quinnipiac points in one stretch in the first half to tie the score 18-18 after Manhattan led 9-2 early.
- Senior forward Alain Chigha (Yaounde, Cameroon) had a 12-footer and a three-pointer to put Quinnipiac ahead 23-18, before Manhattan scored the final eight points of the half.
- After a scoreless first half, Young started the second half with a three-pointer on the first possession and had 13 of the first 15 Bobcat points after halftime (while assisting on the other two) to pull Quinnipiac even 38-38.
- Quinnipiac will meet a Siena team that it beat twice during the regular season, including a 71-70 win at the Times Union Center on Jan. 1, when junior forward Abdulai Bundu (Upper Marlboro, Md.) blocked a game-winning shot attempt at the buzzer.
