House and Vorster Earn ECAC Honors

ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey was honored with two ECAC Hockey awards for play Oct. 8-14 as freshman Courtney Vorster was named Rookie of the Week and sophomore Taylor House was named Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Vorster scored the game-tying goal against Vermont on Saturday, Oct. 13 with 32 seconds left in the third period. The Bobcats were down, 3-2, and Vorster hit a slap shot from the right side that bounced past Vermont's Blanka Skodova to force the game into overtime. This was Vorster's first career goal. She added an assist in the 3-3 tie and had a +4 on-ice rating on the weekend.

House tallied two goals and an assist through two games against Vermont. In the 1-1 tie, House scored the only goal for the Bobcats after beating the Vermont defense on her own. The sophomore now leads the team with three goals and one assist for four points on the season.

UP NEXT

The Bobcats have a week off before starting conference play against Brown and Yale during the weekend of Oct. 26-27 at Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena.
