NIAGARA FALLS, New York – The Quinnipiac University baseball team dropped both ends of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader at Niagara, losing 10-2 in Game 1 and 2-1 in Game 2. With the two losses, Quinnipiac drops to 10-17 overall and 3-5 in the MAAC while Niagara improves to 15-10 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
Despite a lop-sided score in Game 1, and a late-inning loss in Game 2, the Bobcats received a pair of solid starts from Taylor Luciani (Berlin, Connecticut) and Chris Enns (Canton, Connecticut). The duo combined for two earned runs over 8 2/3 innings. However, six errors accounted for six unearned runs to spoil Luciani's solid outing and Quinnipiac accounted for one run for Enns before he left in the fifth.
Ryan Nelson's (Knoxville, Tennessee) was the lone offensive highlight of the day for the Bobcats, as Nelson homered for the second time in his last three games. Evan Vulgamore (Bow, Massachusetts) scored Quinnipiac's only run in the second game of the twin bill.
