HAMDEN, Connecticut - Quinnipiac will look to extend its winning streak to four games when they travel to in-state foe Central Connecticut State University for a mid-week showdown slated for a 3 p.m. start on Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2017. Quinnipiac's three-game winning streak comes after an impressive series sweep of Marist.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats will have a quick turn-around for Wednesday afternoon as they played a doubleheader just a mere 24 hours before, notching victories in both games.
The Bobcats took down the Red foxes from Marist in both games, 2-0 and 4-2, backed by strong pitching and big-time offense. The Bobcats were led at the plate by Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, Tennessee) and Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut), who each had a game-changing home run. Robbie Hitt (Suffield, Connecticut) and Wyatt Hamilton (Falmouth, Massachusetts) each had dazzling starts on the pitching mound.
BATTEN NAMED MAAC PLAYER OF WEEK
Shortstop Matthew Batten (Shelton, Connecticut) was named the MAAC Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday, March 14. Batten tallied seven hits over three games in a weekend series at VMI, hitting 7-for-13 in total, scoring four runs and driving in three more. Batten went 1-for-5 on March 10, 3-for-5 on March 11, and 3-for-3 on March 12.

QU won 29 games in 2015, which ties the program record for most wins in a single season. The Bobcats went 29-27 (15-9 MAAC) overall that year, finishing No. 3 in the conference standings - their highest regular-season finish in the conference since finishing No. 1 in 2007, when Delaney played for team.

- Dean Lockery leads the Blue Devils offensively, batting .341 to start the season. The infielder has struck for 29 hits in 85 at bats while scoring 13 RBIs. Ryan Costello delivers the Blue Devils' their power as he leads the team in RBIs with 18 and home runs with four so far this year.
LIAM GOING LONG
- First baseman Liam Scafariello has 10 home runs in the Bobcats' first 24 games of the 2017 season, making him the 12th player in Quinnipiac history to hit 10 home runs in a season.
- The 10 homers has Scafariello tied for No. 10 overall in the nation heading into the week.
- The last player to reach 10 home runs in a season was Vincent Guglietti in 2015, who did so in 56 games.
- The sophomore transfer from San Jacinto College is 22-for-93 from the plate so far with 19 RBI's. Scafariello was named MAAC Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 21 after opening the season with five homers in the first four games.

Burns and Matthew Batten (Shelton, Connecticut) both posted nine-game hitting streaks this season.
