BACK HOME
The Quinnipiac softball team returns home to host MAAC rival Marist in a Saturday doubleheader at the QU Softball Field with game one beginning at noon.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
Marist owns a 21-14 record this season and like Quinnipiac, is 3-3 in MAAC play. Marist's offense is led by Janna Korak, who boasts a .324 batting average with seven home runs and 29 RBIs.
LAST TIME VS SACRED HEART
Quinnipiac went 0-3 against Marist last season, with the last matchup resulting in a 2-0 loss in the first MAAC semifinal.
LAST TIME OUT
Last time the Bobcats took the field, they fell to Yale in Chris's Game, 12-11. Erin Larsen (Kissimmee, Florida) led the offense for the Bobcats with two home runs and four RBIs in the win. It was the first time in Larsen's career where she hit two homers in one game. Larsen's two dingers were her first of the season and ties her freshman total from last season.
Sarah Heimbach (Greenwich, New Jersey) went two-for-four with three RBIs in the game for the Bobcats. Emily Czaja (Palmer, Massachusetts), Keala Cordeiro (Huntington Beach, California), Miranda Magana (Santa Paula, California) and Rebecca Drake (Whiting, New Jersey) all chipped in an RBI apiece
THE LONG WAY
Abbey Long (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) has had an impressive campaign so far in her freshman season. Long leads the pitching staff with eight wins and owns a 2.98 ERA over 91.2 innings pitched.
NEARLY UNHITTABLE
Casey Herzog (Wappinger Falls, New York) pitched a complete-game, 10-inning shutout in her last start against Sacred Heart. Herzog struck out seven batters over 10 innings of work.
MORE LIFE
Drake has injected life into Quinnipiac's lineup this season. Drake boasts a team-best .391 batting average and has slugged four homers and driven in 19 runs. Drake also boasts an incredible .609 slugging percentage.
MARVELOUS MAGANA
Magana has been one of the team's most consistent hitters so far this season. In 34 games, Magana has an impressive .345 batting average with a team-high six home runs and 19 RBIs.
ROUGHING THE RIGHTIES
Drake and Magana have hammered right-handed pitching so far this season. Drake is 39-for-93 (.419) against righties, while Magana is 33-for-96 (.344) against righties.
