The Quinnipiac University baseball team will resume Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play this weekend when it faces Iona at Flowers Field at City Park in New Rochelle, New York on Friday, Apr. 14 and Saturday, Apr. 15.
Their Last Time Out
- The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to the University of Hartford, 6-4, in the first baseball game played at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford, Connecticut, home of the Hartford Yard Goats, the Class AA affiliate of the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, Apr. 11.
- Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, Tennessee) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored while Joseph Burns (Shelton, Connecticut) was also 2-for-4 with the first home run in the newly-opened ballparks' history and two RBI.
- Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) was 2-for-4 with his team-leading sixth double of the season.
- On the mound, Brandon Shileikis (North Dighton, Massachusetts) pitched 4 2/3 in relief, scattering three hits while striking out five while allowing just one run. Mike Davis (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) pitched two scoreless innings to close the game for the Bobcats.
- Matthew Batten (Shelton, Connecticut) led off the game with a single through the left side of the infield before immediately swiping second base. The stolen base was Batten's 61st of his career and tied the Quinnipiac all-time record set by Bob Bruzik '83. Batten was then moved over to third before scoring the first run in Dunkin' Donuts Park history on a balk.

- Quinnipiac is currently 3-6 in conference play and are coming off a three-game losing streak at Niagara.
- The previous weekend, Quinnipiac swept Marist at home, outscoring the Red Foxes, 13-6, across three games.
Milestones and Streaks
- Quinnipiac senior stand-out Matthew Batten (Shelton, Connecticut) moved closer to the Quinnipiac career hits record with a 1-for-5 day against Hartford while also tying the career stolen bases record of 61 previously held by Bob Bruzik '83.
- Batten currently sits fifth with 225 career hits, behind all-time leader Tim Binkoski '07 (244), Ryan Rizzo '07 and Ben Farina '11 (238) and Vincent Guglietti '15 (228).
- Mike Palladino (Rockville Centre, New York) also reached base for the 15th straight game for the second-longest streak of the season behind Batten's 17-game streak.
- Matthew Osieja (Wyckoff, New Jersey) made his 62nd career appearance on the mound against Niagara on Monday, leaving him one appearance shy of tying the program record held by Matthew Lorenzetti '16 and Mike Spahr '05.
- Liam Scafariello's (Southinton, Connecticut) 9th inning home run on Monday against Niagara made him just the ninth player in program history to reach 12 in a season.
- The last Quinnipiac players to hit 12 in a season was Pete Kummerfeldt, Randy Gress and Jeff Mainetti in 2007.
- Joseph Burns (Shelton, Connecticut) hit the first home run in the newly-opened Dunkin' Donuts Park against Hartford on Tuesday, Apr. 11.
The Hit Parade
- Joseph Burns (Shelton, Connecticut) currently leads the Bobcats with a .295 average (3-for-112), while also leading the squad in hits (33), walks (14) and on-base percentage (.378). Burns has homered three times and driven in 11 runs while scoring 16.
- Matthew Batten (Shelton, Connecticut) is tied with Burns for the team-lead in hits (33) and is also tied with Brian Moskey in doubles (6) while also swiping a team-high nine stolen bases to go along with a .289 average (33-for-114), 18 runs scored, a home run and 10 RBI.
- Batten also leads Quinnipiac in multiple-hit games (10) while also posting an 11-game hitting streak and a 17-game streak in which he reached base safely.
- In 18 non-conference games, Batten is hitting .347 (26-for-75).
- Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) leads Quinnipiac in home runs (12), RBI (23), runs scored (22) and slugging percentage (.593) while also walking 13 times and stealing five bases.
- Scafariello has homered in four of his last eight games.
- In 19 non-conference games, Scafariello has nine of his 12 home runs and drive in 18 runs while posting a gawdy .649 slugging percentage.
- Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) ranks fourth in the Bobcats' line-up with 30 hits and is tied with Batten in doubles (6) and RBI (18). He's also one of three players – along with Burns and Scafariello – to post a .400 slugging percentage or better.
- Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, Tennessee) checks in with 32 hits, three home runs and 16 RBI and ranks second in multiple-hit games (9) and multiple-RBI games (5).

The Staff
- Quinnipiac's starting pitching is 5-12 in 29 games this season with a staff-wide ERA of 6.79 in 106 innings pitched.
- Chris Enns (Canton, Connecticut) got his first career start in a 2-1 loss to Niagara but scattered five hits over 4 2/3 while striking out seven and walking one.
- Robert Hitt (Suffield, Connecticut) is 1-1 with a 3.70 ERA with 20 strike-outs in 24 1/3 innings pitched.
- Taylor Luciani (Enfield, Connecticut) is 1-4 in six starts with a management 4.30 ERA across 23 innings pitched.
The Bullpen
- Quinnipiac's bullpen is 5-7 this season with a 5.63 ERA across 138 innings pitched.
- Mike Davis (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) has emerged as the Bobcats' closer, posting a team-best 0.57 ERA with five saves in 12 appearances. Davis has given up one earned run in 15 2/3 innings while striking out 18.
- Davis has been lights-out against the MAAC. In four conference games, Davis has yet to give up a run, while allowing one hit, with six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. He's also converted on three saves in conference play.
- Blake DeCarr (Foxboro, Massachusetts) has appeared in five games and leads Quinnipiac relievers with a .174 batting average against. DeCarr is coming off three hitless, scoreless innings on Monday against Niagara and carries a 2.13 ERA in 12 2/3 innings of relief work.
- Enns has seen most of his action out of the bullpen this season. In relief, Enns is 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings pitched.
- Andrew Workman (Pound Ridge, New York) has appeared in a team-high 13 games while logging 19 2/3 innings with 18 strikeouts and a 2-1 record.
- Matthew Osieja (Wyckoff, New Jersey) is the Bobcats' lefty specialist and has seen action in 12 games to date.
