Junior attack Brian Feldman had three goals and two assists, and junior midfielder Ryan Corcoran had his first career hat trick as Quinnipiac held off a second-half NJIT rally for an 11-8 win on Saturday. Junior Will Vitelli won 19 of 22 faceoffs for the Bobcats, while freshman goalie Joe Zukauskas made his first career start and had six saves, four of which came on tying shot attempts after the Highlanders closed to within 8-7 in the third quarter. The Bobcats led 6-1 after the first quarter, with Feldman scoring two early goals and Vitelli winning all eight faceoffs. NJIT pulled to within 8-4 at the half and then outscored the Bobcats 3-0 in the third. Corcoran ended the Quinnipiac drought with a man-up goal in the fourth, and after NJIT closed to within 9-8, Adam Bellamy had a key poke check to force a turnover, and Foster Cuumo sealed the win with an empty-net goal.
TRI-CAPTAINS IN 2017
Quinnipiac will have tri-captains for the 2017 season. Senior Jack Brust and Kevin Diehl have been captains since the fall season, while fellow senior Drew D'Antonio added captain duties for the spring. They are expected to be the only three seniors that the Bobcats lose after this season (attack Zach Malsky is also a senior, but has a redshirt year available if he chooses to use it).
CUOMO SHARES MAAC PRESEASON PLAYER OF YEAR
Sophomore attack Foster Cuomo was named the 2017 MAAC Preseason Co-Player of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches. Cuomo was a second-team All-MAAC midfielder last year, but closed the season playing his best lacrosse under pressure, scoring 11 of his 22 goals in the postseeaon after the all-conference teams were picked. Cuomo had four goals and two assists in Quinnipiac's 13-7 win over Canisius in the MAAC Semifinals, which was his first collegiate hat trick. He then added two more goals in the MAAC Finals against Marist, one of which earned him the No. 6 spot on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 (a blind over-the-shoulder shot into the upper corner). Cuomo added four more goals in his first-ever NCAA Tournament game against Hartford. leading the Bobcats to the win, and added one more against No. 1 Maryland in the NCAA First Round. His 11 postseason goals in four games matched the total that he had during the regular season. Cuomo shared the Preseason Player of the Year honor with Jeff Edwards of Canisius, while junior attack Brian Feldman (36 goals in 2016) was also named to the preseason All-MAAC team. The Bobcats were a unanimous pick to repeat as league champions.
FELDMAN'S GOAL STREAK REACHES 13
Entering the Princeton game, Brian Feldman has a streak of 13 straight games with at least one goal, dating back to being held scoreless by Marquette last spring, which ties him for fifth on the active list nationally. Only eight players in the country currently have a goal scoring streak of 10 or more, led by Dylan Molloy of Brown with 29 in a row.

FELDMAN MOVES INTO TOP TEN ON CAREER GOALS LIST
Junior attack Brian Feldman is well ahead of pace to become only the fourth player in school history to record 100 career goals and the first to do it in the last 15 years. Feldman had 29 goals as a freshman and 36 last season, putting him in eighth on the single-season list, and his quick start to this season (12 goals in three games) has him up into a tie for ninth on the career list in only his junior season. His 36 goals last season made him only the eighth different Division I player (tenth overall) in school history to have a 30-goal season.

BOBCATS MAKE HISTORY IN 2016
The Bobcats had their most successful season in program history a year ago, sweeping the MAAC regular season and postseason titles with a perfect 8-0 record against conference foes, earning their first-ever NCAA Tournament bid, and picking up a win over Hartford in the NCAA preliminary round. Five key seniors graduated from that team, including leading scorer Ryan Keenan, the No. 1 pick in the NLL draft, close defenders Chris Kendall and Ryan Lawler, and midfielders Connor Meth and Nate Nibbelink.
CORCORAN JOINS HAT TRICK CLUB
Junior midfielder Ryan Corcoran scored three goals against NJIT on March 4, registering his first career hat trick, He is now one of four players on the Bobcats who have scored three goals in a game, led by 13 from Brian Feldman (see above). Matt Frost had three goals in his second collegiate game at NJIT last year, while Foster Cuomo and Drew D'Antonio both achieved the feat for the first time in the MAAC Tournament last year, with Cuomo tallying four goals in the semifinals against Canisius and D'Antonio scoring four times in the championship against Marist.
BRUST AMONG NATION'S BEST
After a dominant conference season (.660 save percentage in six games), earning the Most Outstanding Player honor in the conference tournament, and adding 18 more saves against Hartford in the preliminary round of the NCAA Tournament, current senior goalie Jack Brust ended last season fifth in the nation with a .577 save percentage. Brust was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week four times last season, in addition to his Most Outstanding Player honor in the conference tournament, when he had 31 saves in two games while allowing only 16 goals.
ZUKAUSKAS FILLS IN NICELY
With senior Jack Brust out with an injury against NJIT, freshman Joe Zukaukas made his first career start and earned the win in an 11-8 victory. He was credited with six saves, but they were of the timely variety. After NJIT closed a 6-1 lead down to 8-7 in the third quarter, Zukauskas had four of his saves on tying shot attempts with NJIT riding a big momentum swing. The Bobcats were finally able to restore a two-goal lead with 10 minutes left and held on for the 11-8 win.
WHERE THERE'S A WILL...
Junior face-off specialist Will Vitelli had a dominant performance at the X on Saturday against NJIT, winning 19 of 22. His dominance is nothing new for the Bobcats, as his performances last year were a strong barometer for Quinnipiac's success or failure. In six of Quinnipiac's wins, Vitelli was dominant on face-offs, including a 19-for-19 effort against Marist which earned him the National Player of the Week honor. He won 75.3 percent of his face-offs in conference games (64-of-85) and also was 15-of-22 against Bellarmine and 13-of-20 against NJIT to help the Bobcats to non-conference wins. In the two meetings with defending MAAC champion Marist, Vitelli was a remarkable 39-of-44 (.887), including 20-of-25 in the MAAC title game. Even more remarkable, Vitelli walked on to the team as a freshman and had never taken face-offs in his life before entering college.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton moved into the top 20 with a dominant 18-7 win over then-No. 3 Johns Hopkins on Friday, improving to 3-1 on the year. The Tigers also have a 22-8 win over NJIT (a common opponent with the Bobcats), a 10-6 win over Marist, and a narrow 10-8 loss to Hofstra. Princeton has been balanced offensively in the early going, with Gavin McBride tallying 10 goals and seven assists, and Michael Sowers adding nine goals and 11 assists. Zach Currier (eight goals, eight assists) and Austin Sims (eight goals, two assists) have also been consistent weapons this year, while Tyler Blaisdell has been solid in goal with a 7.14 goals against average an da .667 save percentage.
