
QU Softball Earns Wild Walk-Off Win Over North Dakota, 3-2

NORTHRIDGE, California - Quinnipiac softball was able to defeat the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in walk-off fashion, 3-2, on the second day of competition of the CSUN/LMU Tournament on Saturday morning.
With the win, the Bobcats improve to 5-6, while North Dakota dropped to 10-14.
Rebecca Drake (Whiting, New Jersey) and Keilani Finley (Alameda, California) each recorded an RBI in the win, while Kendall Brundrett (San Diego, California) earned a win in relief, moving her to 2-0 on the season.
Quinnipiac fell behind in the second inning, as North Dakota was able to take a 2-0 lead.
The Bobcats were held scoreless until they were able to muster a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out in the frame, Lexi Courtney (Scappoose, Oregon) was able to reach first on a fielder's choice. Courtney was able to advance to third after UND committed an error on the following play. Emily Czaja (Palmer, Massachusetts) then sac-bunted to second base, driving in a run to cut the deficit to just one run.
Quinnipiac tied the score in the sixth after Drake doubled to center field with two outs. Finley followed with a single to right field, driving in Drake.
With the game tied at two, the Bobcats had the chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh and took full advantage of the opportunity. With one out in the inning, Courtney singled, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs in the inning, Czaja was able to reach first on a throwing error by the North Dakota third baseman, allowing Courtney to score on the play to secure the Quinnipiac 3-2 walk-off win.
Abbey Long (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) got the start for the Bobcats, earning a no-decision while giving up just two runs in five innings of work. Brundrett relieved Long and went two innings without surrendering a hit.
Quinnipiac will be back in action on Sunday to close play at the CSUN/LMU Tournament as the Bobcats take on Boise State at 8:30 a.m. pacific (11:30 a.m. eastern) and CSU Bakersfield at 1 p.m. pacific (4 p.m. eastern).
